Pink Floyd's Rick Wright Dead

Recommended Posts

From REG/RW fan club site.

http://www.rogerwaters.org/2008.html#SEP08

"We have yet to get a statement from Roger Waters through his manager. However, the official Roger Waters website http://www.roger-waters.com, has only a photo of memorial red poppies sprinkled amongst a hundred candles mostly lit, but the flame on some of the candles has evidently gone out. Perhaps this says it all. Although a million candles still burn, some have lost their flame, now in darkness where there once had been light. Like one of those candles, once brightly lit, now gone dark, Richard Wright will be forever remembered."

I've been listening to this over and over - can't help feeling it's about him now as well as Syd. I saw them once in 1994, it was unforgettable. Pink Floyd is actually my favorite band, has been since the 80s. Can't find words to express the sorrow. I only hope he didn't suffer long.

I was lucky enough to see them in 1988 and 1990 and I have been listening to the great Echoes :)

Here is an interview with Rick last year talking about the The classic Piper at the Gayes of Dawn :)

http://www.planetrock.co.uk/article.asp?id=888094

That was excellent! I have to tell you that my husband is a much greater and more passionate PF fan than I am and he really loved that interview (as well as the others on the Planet Rock site).

More on Wright and Floyd:

From the NYT rock critic:

I meant to say how sorry i feel on this thread much sooner. Pink Floyd are one of my biggest influences in falling in love with rock music (and more obscure/progressive music). I bought a copy of Dark Side of the Moon when i was 11, the same time i started listening to Led Zeppelin.

It's sad to lose a Pink Floyd member, but his beautiful music will always live on. RIP Rick Wright.

By the way . . . . which one's Pink ? ?

Reunion hopes are dashed.

Good Bye Richard.

Very sad indeed.

They will always be in my top five.

Saw them twice, in the early years, 68 or 69, their first two US tours. MIND blowing.

Another Shooting Star

Oh look! Another shooting star..

They disappear one by one.

They look so far -

And then.. they're gone.

The light of stars that died long time ago

Still shines to us -

Did you notice this thing before?

In time and light will pass.

That won't be soon, but still one day

Sky will be blank and dark.

Somebody took our Moon away

You're crying in a park.

Dedicated to Richard Wright.

by me

:'(

hope He's read it. really wonderful poem

I think there's actually no reason to grieve for him... the place where he's now is certainly better :)

RIP, Rick.
