But please take back Celine Dion, Len and Margaret Trudeau.

I'll accept the return of Len and Margaret Trudeau...... but an absolute no on Celin Dion. I just cringe every time I hear her sing :D

Hi Timothy:

Yes..I'm finding it difficult to listen to Celine now. Some of the notes near the end of TAKING CHANCES make me cringe..I also do not like the video...

I have heard her sing in French and those tunes are more enjoyable...Her duet with Peabo Bryson (Beauty and the Beast) is o.k. Where Do Broken Hearts Go? is one of her earlier tunes. I think that is the name of the tune. I don't find that hard to listen to when she reaches the higher notes

There is speculation that she and hubby Rene may buy the Montreal Canadiens...I heard that on one of the sports shows...

oh no. I like Celine, but cant stand Montreal. Question for Juliet for Patricia or Spats. I know you are all in Toronto. where is Woodbine race track? The harness? Have you ever seen it? I know its somewhere near Toronto. Ive been to Toronto about 4 times but have never seen it? It must be on the outskirts?

Well Woodbine is in Rexdale, which is slightly west of Toronto. Here's a general map:

http://www.woodbineentertainment.com/directions/index.html

It's actually very close to the airport so if you're flying in, you're closer to the race track than you are downtown Toronto. I've never been there (not my thing) but I used to live in the area, so I'm quite familiar with it. You a betting man, Yukon?

I have never been to the Airport as I have always driven to Toronto as its not far. I cant remember that main highway that goes into the city? It will take you right to the corner of Younge and Queens, Eaton Center. I assume the area Rexdale is about a twenty minute to half an hour drive from downtown? Last time I was there I stayed at a fancy hotel that was walking distance from Wayne Gretsky's restaurant. Just around the corner.

Hey well Gretzky's is right downtown close to the lake, so I think the highway you're thinking of is the Gardiner. You basically take that west and then go north on 427. Hang on...

...hmm, well Google's not allowing the direct map link, but you get off at Rexdale Blvd. exit. 20 minutes on a good, construction-free day B)

Thanks Pat. :drunk::Thinking:

Cheers, Yukon. Just be sure to double check that because it's from memory and zoomed out google. I'm sure there are some connecting turns and off ramps etc., I'm missing. And don't rely solely on google either. Once when we were going north up to a rented cottage we ended up at the edge of a lake where a road should have been :D Don't think too long, summer's just around the corner (although you couldn't bloody well tell by tonight's temps brrrr...) ok good night

Billy Bob channels his inner Joaquin Phoenix

there there, precious, wipe your chin...

Billy Bob is getting a really bad rap for what he did but i support him.

He made a deal with the interviewer before the interview not to bring up certain things. He was only there to talk about his music. The interviewer agreed and said he wouldn't. They went live to air and the interviewer broke the deal and brought up what he was not supposed to. A deal is a deal and he broke it.

And billy's comments on canadian audiences was right on the money. They are reserved. I have been to plenty of shows and to sporting events here and they sit on their hands most of the time.

hi Yukon,

I live 10 minutes from Mohawk Raceway in Campbellville (20 minutes west of Toronto).

I only saw the harness racing once but I really liked it. Mohawk has common-pool wagering and I wouldn't mind becoming a betting woman one day :video_chat: and as well for the thoroughbred racing in North America.

Woodbine is constructing a luxury hotel, but Mohawk also has in construction, a hotel and golf course. Generally I go to Mohawk to the casino a couple of times a year. (I'm up about $127.00! pathetic huh?!) :sarcastic_hand:

re Robert and The Strange Sensation, I saw them at the Molson Amphitheater, and stupid me  I would have LOVED :veryhot: to see them in London too but didn't explore tickets at Ticketmaster other than Toronto! I could kick myself in the arse for that! :beat:

Next time I'll remember... CHEck LONdon too!!

I saw Robert and Jimmy in '98  and met them; and Robert and Alison last year... fantastic! :friends: I was in the 7th row, closest I've ever been!

please excuse all the Smileys... must be a record! :run:

A driver named Jodi Jamison is just winning like crazy. He is very good.

thanks for the heads up on Mr. Jamison; I'm going to have a look see at him :)

I can see why the rest of Canada cant stand that French province. I have had Canadiens in Kinston and Gananaoque tell me they cant stand the French in Quebec. Im starting to feel the same way.

I have relatives in Kingston who are opinionated as well.

Quebec's political party, Bloc Quebecois (the separatists), who want to separate Quebec from Canada, want to join with the Liberals and NDPs to form a coalition to outvote the Conservatives. but we don't want a separatist party to have such power... isn't this tantamount to treason! how can we let a separatist party hold government seats? the Canadian Government (who is us) is funding part of Quebec.

Because we have a constitutional monarchy... (the Queen is head of state)... the political parties are allowed to do this. I vote for a republic and democratically voted leaders! Canada is not all bad though. sometimes this type of arrangement is efficacious.

Montreal fans are booing the US national anthem

I'm sorry to hear that. it's shameful. there are many of us who love and respect the US. I'm glad you're not painting all Canadians or Quebecers with the same brush. we'd like to think that Quebecers are Canadians. and yes, like most sports teams now, Canada is also multicultural. these players, while playing for Canadian and US teams are loyal to their teams' Canadian & US anthems they hear, without asking individually that we play their own country of origin's anthems as well. shouldn't we expect Quebecers to show the same 'Canadian' team spirit?

First, I will never know how to use these quotes, thus I always reply to the entire post. Have tried everything. It is very important that Canada and the United States always remain close along with England. In recent years for the first time ever, there has been some tension between our countries. I dont like to point fingers, but in this case I must. I do think it is more of Canada's doing. And now these Montreal fans, who are amoung the most knowledgable on the game of hockey itself, are booing the anthem for what? Its not like the Boston Bruins represent the entire USA for Gods sake. I am not a Bruins fan. But I do want them to beat Montreal. Simply because I have never liked Montreal and Boston certainly deserves to win based on the year they had. Im sure there will be some idiots at tonights finale.

It's happened before Yukon. It even happened in Vancouver when we were playing Colorado back in the 2001 playoffs. I've heard it in Toronto as well. I think it's an issue that comes up from time to time because fans only see what is in front of them at the moment. It's a childish reaction and fueled by a few too many ales. The first time I heard anyone boo a national anthem though was in Philadelphia back in the 70's after the Attorney General of Ontario tried to charge a number of the Flyer player's with assult because of the fights that broke out at Maple Leaf Gardens during the playoffs. I think it was 1975 . Pyramid Power was happening then...lol Red Kelly era. Leafs lost in 7 and nobody won a game away from home.

I can't speak for the rest of Canada but I think it's stupid when it happens. Follow the leader type of stuff that usually turns out to be , regretable <_<

It would make sense for Canada and the US to be one big country. After all, much of the property in Florida is owned by rich Canadien's from Toronto. So its ok for them to come down and buy up the place. I have a Dr that owns a cottage in Canada. So why all the bullshit?

Thanks, but no thanks. I think we like things just the way they are.
