Ah yes. I have an old Vancouver pennant from 1970. Few realize they were Rochester's parent team for one year back then. (the AHL Rochester Americans). I have always liked the Canucks. Hate the Sens though. Especially Neil

Well did you know that the Sabres first head coach was Joe Crozier who, happened to be the Canucks head coach pre NHL expansion when we were in the old Western Hockey League. Won us the title two years on the trot. Could never quite figure out why we didn't take him with us to the NHL

He had some really good years in Buffalo. Of course drafting Gilbert Perrault didn't hurt either. When the Canucks lost that coin toss for the #1 pick ( we got Dale Tallon) it got the franchise off to a terrible start

Just saw your post. Perrault is my favorite player of all time. Crozeir led the old Rochester Americans in the AHL to several Calder cup trophys back in the early to mid 1960s. I wish the best for the Sabres and Canucks. Obviously the Sabres are a better team at the moment. And we have only Ottawa and Jersey to worry about. You guys have to worry about many like Anaheim, Detroit, San Jose, Minnesota, etc, but at least you have a great goalie like we do. Lets hope we meet in the finals, though unlikely.

Likewise your post, I just got home from work

Yeah, we are up against it as you say. The west has so many teams that could go all the way. I don't think that the Canucks are that far away from being a great team. We've had so many injuries that the team hasn't been able to settle down.We need to trade Naslund. He hasn't been the same player since Steve Moore tried to decapitate him ( the reason Bertuzzi assulted Moore) The farm looks good and I say ...bring up some fresh blood to light a fire under some of our veterans

Here's an email my Canadian friend sent me:

 Entertaining Mandy....although I've not been murdered nor ever had my car stolen in Edmonton (I think they must be talking about the 'North' end).... And minimum wage is definitely not $15.50/hr... I wish....if it was, I wouldn't have left!

But the stuff about the Whitemud Freeway, THAT might be a little true

Hi;

I'm not a big hockey fan but I heard Don Cherry venting on Coach's Corner last eve. He's angry that the Maple Leafs are not drafting more Canadians...he was really mad...

GO DON GO....

Juliet

Well he does call it as he sees it. He tends to rant a little too much at times but, he does know his stuff

LEE AARON Set To 'Rock' Again

Former Canadian "metal queen" Lee Aaron has lined up several dates where she will be performing some of her early hard rock-oriented material along with "rocked up" versions of some of her newer songs (after singing jazz for the past several years). So far the following shows have been announced:

Feb. 28 - Redcliff, AB @ Harmony Hall (w/ HEADPINS)

Feb. 29 - Calgary, AB @ Deerfoot Casino (w/ HEADPINS)

Mar. 01 - Edmonton, AB @ Century Casino

Jul. 25 - Kapuskasing, ON @ [to be announced] (w/ HEADPINS)

Jul. 26 - Mattawa, ON @ Voyageur Days

According to Lee Aaron's guitarist Rob Hamilton, "the first time we did this was the Rock the Fort Festival in Thunder Bay June 16th 2006, a double bill with HEART. The show was a huge success with Lee and the band sounding great. The turnout was intense as well with over 40,000 tickets sold. The next was in Mattawa Ontario July 29th for the Voyageur Days Festival."

Aaron previously stated about the Rock the Fort and Voyageur Days festival performances, "The new material meshed extremely well with the older tunes. Thunder Bay was a first. I've never blended the jazz/pop stuff with my rock hits. The new material seemed to assimilate seamlessly and was really well received by the crowd.

"Despite offers, I refused to perform my earlier work for about six years, playing the jazz circuit instead, endeavoring to earn credibility as a jazz chanteuse. Tremendous pay cut, but worth it in the end. For the most part, people are no longer shocked that I'm capable of more than big hair arena rock. It was important to me to change that perception. There is an unfortunate stereotype that exists especially in the industry that posits that if you are a woman, and play hard rock you can't possibly have brains. I spent the first twenty years my career being treated like an idiot, except by those that knew me well. I digress.

"Wahoo. I loved it. The show was so much fun and it finally felt really right to be putting together a comprehensive set that spans my entire career. Plans to do more for sure."

GAS PRICES HAVE GONE UP.....

Last weekend the prices went up and the excuse "they" gave was because of the three day weekend due to the new holiday in Ontario called FAMILY DAY (Feb 18)

Today they've gone up again across the country and one politician says it because of some oil refinery fire somewhere...

YA KNOW......I think there's lots of other reasons....There's alot of 4X4 vehicles where I live....as well as..affluent retirees...I think the gas will stay up because some people obviously have the money....I refuse to pay....and I've cancelled the plans I had for the next few days...I was going to go away but I will stay home instead.....SO THERE...

Well....it turned out this show put me to sleep....I watched MICA....The Osbournes intro...and Rihanna...

Juliet

PS I thought it was advertised as just being the highlights but it was the re-broadcast of the whole show with George from THE HOUR giving a brief intro outside on the Red Carpet...

Well our provincial gov. came up with a new "Carbon Tax" to add to the price of gas in BC. I hope the Feds have something up they're sleave to offset the cost of that. Some form of tax write off would be good

Hey Ally. Be honest now. Who will you cheer for tonight. Sabres or Canadiens?? We need this one. GO SABRES!!! Oh yeah, and go Canucks. Hope you fry San Jose next time you play them crooks.

The Sabres. Never been a Habs fan. I'd love to take one off of San Jose but we'll have to bring our "A" game. They got a hole lot better with Campbell. They must be the biggest team in the league right now
