Annoying I can live with.

I fail to see the logic in him being cowardly?

He is committed to seeing through his obligation with Alison so nothing would happen until it reaches fruition.

There is no reason why he couldn't record another album with Alison and with the 3 J's.

Back in the day they recorderd albums in hours, let alone weeks.

For all we know he maybe agonising over his decision and hasn't made it known because his mind isn't made up, yet.

Especially as he is aware that JP, JPJ and JB are rehearsing and most likely recording some new material.

On that basis alone he could even have a change of heart and if it is keyed down it would still be fresh because it would be original.

Unearthed, Unheard, Unleashed!

Never say never.

Regarding a new singer or singers, it wouldn't be a stretch for them to find someone with a good range to produce the "old" stuff.

Something to ponder.

Who other than Robert could / would be provide lyrics for the new material, Jimmy, Jonesy, Jason?

I really don't see that Robert needs to sign an oath in blood that he will never ever be involved in Zeppelin again, utter the word Zeppelin, think the word Zeppelin, go within 25 miles of Jimmy Page, etc. etc. Maybe if he doesn't do it now, he might change his mind in the future, and if the planets align, and the others are up for it, and the new guy's off doing his own project, Plant, Page, and Jones (and Bonham) might play together again. Why not? He has to swear off it (and presumably the rest of the band along with him) just so some fans can have some phony "closure"?

Why are people's feelings about Zeppelin phony or silly to some of you? It means a lot to many people, whether you appreciate that, or not.

Who said an oath in blood? How about, treating people who care with R E S P E C T? It might stop folks from thinking he only cares about his own fickle, equisitely tuned feelings.

Ship's about to sail... all aboard? No? Bye, then, best wishes for your solo future. Letting him wander in and out wouldn't be fair to whoever IS willing to work with Jimmy, Jason and John Paul now.

Sometimes when you're finished eating your seven layer, death by chocolate cake with hot fudge sauce, why, what do you know... it's actually gone.

Something to ponder.

Jimmy. Jonesy. Jason. The New Guy.

Jimmy IS doing it--Jimmy is moving ahead with a new musical project, for which I'm sure he's signing tons of paper. Stop whining about whether Robert's involved or not and let Jimmy get on with it!! You want to see him, yes? You don't want him to wait another decade for Robert, right? Then let him get on with whatever he's doing, and let Robert get on with what HE's doing, and be grateful for the results!!

Amen to that!!! And I will definitely be extremely grateful with the results!!!

I care greatly about what happens next, musically.

However, I'll also repeat what Cactus said:

"Closure" is something victims of major trauma need, not victims of a non-Zeppelin tour. Perhaps a little perspective mightn't come amiss? Trying to tune the feelings a little less exquisitely?

I fail to see where Plant has failed to treat anyone with respect; this response has only come from those who are bound and determined to feel disrespected because he's not doing what THEY want him to do. It's an endlessly-repeated response that has become tiresome beyond belief.

I think he's fine with Jimmy, Jonesy, Jason, and New Guy, sorry. So am I. I can't wait, in fact!

Closure?

No offense but some people, particularly, but not entirely limited to the young ones, take all this too fucking serious! :o

I'm sure Jimmy is so relieved you trust his judgement and that he has your permission!

Ok, ok, no need to get snotty over this. Perhaps i should have put closure into the right context...such as the end of all of these 50 page threads on Robert joining or not. I think that we're all a bit tired of speculation at this point in time and wish to see things move forward.

And the permission part, that was uncalled for. I will, however, try to be more careful in the future so that i do not offend you again..... <_<

"Closure" is something victims of major trauma need, not victims of a non-Zeppelin tour.

A definition within the context i was refering to...

Closures are of two types, voluntary or involuntary. Voluntary closures of organizations are much rarer than involuntary ones, as, in the absence of some change making operations impossible or unnecessary, most operations will continue until something happens that causes a change requiring this situation.

The most common form of voluntary closure would be when a group of people decide to start some organization such as a social club, a band, or a non-profit organization, then at some point those involved decide to quit. If the organization has no outstanding debts or pending operations to finish, closure may consist of nothing more than the informal organization ceasing to exist. This is referred to as the organizers walking away from the organization.

Well, no, you were talking about psychological closure, not just something finishing.

Just seemed a mite overstated, is all. :)

Ummm, ok. I thank you for letting me know what i was talking about.

Seriously, no i wasn't. I was refering to it in a business sense. I'm not that far gone(yet) that i would be psychologically affected in any way by what a singer for a rock band decided to do with his future.

Let's just bring "closure" to this subject..... :D

Ah--well, if you hadn't said "closure for me" [my emphasis], it might have been clearer that you meant in a business sense.

Subject closed, then. :D

Let's face it good people, Robert, when or if offered an ultimatum of re-joining Zeppelin, will no doubt turn it down - whatever the offer, he's done.

It's over with , complete, as far as Robert is concerned. He had his time with the Band, loved and lived it, but new days and a new horizon is in sight for him.

The good ship is sailing and not with the old crew.

Wave goodbye and wish him the best. It's high time Jimmy and the boys did the same.

Why wave goodbye to Robert? As far as I know, he's not going anywhere. He'll still be writing/recording/performing...just not with the other three.

I, for one, am looking forward to new music, if any, coming from all 4 of them, together or individually, in the year or years to come. :)

The time is NOW! Roberts voice will be doing nothing but deteriorating in his 60's, medical fact! If he doesnt want to EVER do it, he should just say no never, but he won't because he doesnt want to ruin his fan base who are 90% zep fans!!! I respect his feelings, but i think they are misguided. He can do new and fresh things and do just one Zep farewell tour. he sounded fabulous at the 02. i can see his reservations about the beuaracracy, but they are the greatest rock band ever, they can do it on THEIR terms, the way THEY want to do it, if he doesnt want to sign all that bull crap, than let Jimmy do it. Jimmy owns the name anyway. Just give us one 40th/farewell tour and i know that most REAl zep fans will be happy with that and he will never have to answer Zep reunion questions again( not that he really does anyway). But STOP HANGING EVERYONE ON and JUST SAY NO NEVER, because frankly thats the part that really annoys me, and is cowardly.

Why should he? It's a really ridiculous thing to ask a musician to state that he won't do something that he might feel like doing at some future stage.

He's made his stance perfectly clear:

No tour.

Possibly the odd one-off, but don't hold your breath.

Why is that so hard to understand?

Then someone close to Robert Plant needs to tell him that they put on a kick ass show last December, still have it, have three bandmates waiting, and millions of fans dying to see it

I'm sure Robert's more than aware of all those points already.

If you don't mind i will not be moving on from it yet <_< , Until an official statement saying what happening, I am open to anything is possible, why are we presuming Robert will or will not. There are people on here who seem to be alluding to the fact that JP/JB/JPJ are going to have a new musical project with a diff singer, they either really know or they have let the cat out the bag ?? Anyway until its officially announced I still have an open mind to Robert and his decision if they are to ask him to join them :)

Robert has not stated an intention never to tour with the group again that is written in stone. There has to be some reason for that. He may never tour or even appear with the rest of the band again, but I think he's keeping his options open. There is still hope I suppose, but regardless, Jimmy, John, and Jason should do whatever they want whenever they want as far as a tour is concerned and shouldn't feel shy about getting another singer to go on the road with them. Will it be Led Zeppelin proper? Of course not. It will almost certainly be some damn good music that I will pay coin to see. However, I think it would probably be a good idea for their "guest" vocalist to be on contract on an "as needed" basis. Should Robert finish up with his venture with Krauss and get the itch to play with his old mates, it would be good for his return to be nice and convenient.

Highly doubt this happening Reggie. Why should Jimmy and the guys drop everything for Percy. If and when the time comes for Rob's answer, and maybe it has already, he has to live with his descision. To kick the replacement singer to the curb mid-tour shows no class at all. Robert will have made his bed by then, now he needs to sleep in it. No jealous Coverdale scenarios this time arround!

"He has to live with his decision," "Robert will have made his bed by then, now he needs to sleep in it"--HE'S living with his decision fine! He's reluctant to join in, not to be left out!
