danelectro59
of Led Zeppelin performing before the largest viewing audience in TV history. I believe their presence would have eclipsed all other halftime shows. Even the wardrobe malfunction one. It was the perfect scenario and a prime time to announce an upcoming tour. It's sad that Robert has temporarily ended that dream, but like many others, I respect his decision and support him. http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/br...-e,557855.shtml
Wolfman
No offense but that would be the worst thing ever. Led Zeppelin is way above this and this is coming from a huge NFL fan.

How do you figure that? The Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event in the world, other than the World Cup or Olympics. Certainly in N. America, it's on in nearly every house. The biggest stars have played the halftime show. Examples: The Stones U2 Prince Paul McCartney Aerosmith Michael Jackson (yea, I know, but he is a star) and that's just to name a few. Sorry, but I think you're wrong. If only I were a promoter
JethroTull
How about Zeppelin play a proper tour or two and THEN play the Super Bowl. I would feel like it's a bit of a scam if they reunited for a Super Bowl gig. I mean please.

Wolfman
One thing that I always respected about Zep above those other bands was their integrity. Super Bowl rings of sellout to me.

Maybe you didn't understand what I meaned? Zeppelin needs to start acting like a real band instead of a bunch of posers and media whores. I mean please. euro
One thing that I always respected about Zep above those other bands was their integrity. Super Bowl rings of sellout to me. I am not sure what the criteria for selling out is. Any massively commercially sucessful band in a sense has sold out to the masses. In any event,Springsteen turned down millions of dollars to do commercial for american automaker at the height of his popularity

JethroTull
Oh, okay. So Jimmy was just posing at the Olympics. Now I get what you meaned. How about going out in public with your band and playing some shows, instead of showing up at every media event and whoring yourself.
danelectro59
How about going out in public with your band and playing some shows, instead of showing up at every media event and whoring yourself. No. I would consider going on tour without Robert Plant as vocalist whoring. If you've seen the Foghat vid I posted for a laugh, you would see what whoring is. I think there's only one original member in drummer Roger Earl. I don't consider playing the Super Bowl selling out. And if you really read the original post, it said to announce a tour. Without that, yes it would be useless since a SB show is only 20 minutes. That wouldn't be worth the effort for the group. It's a moot point anyway, because without Robert, it's a sham. SuperDave
At least by having Bruce and his band they've chosen someone good. Many poor acts have palyed this event, although in recent years the lineup has been quite good.

jimmie ray
Regardless of who performs, they should have 3 hours before the game - and not constrain them to limits on the songs. I've hardly caught any halftime performances in the past - we usually have a quick game of our own in the parking lot or chow down if the foods ready... JethroTull
I posted my half-time song predictions in the Super Bowl thread. Tickets for the majority of the US tour go on sale Monday at 10 am. I predict more pandemonium than usual for a Springsteen tour. Now all the millions who watch the Super Bowl will want to go. I'll be out of town on Monday and won't have computer access, but I have an alternative plan in place to get tickets.
