vanderbilly
This would be a great replacement singer Over the Hills and Far Away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZILswmvijs Ten Years Gone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLdef0DPDHE Lemon Song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEhyJtJPEVk We've never met one another, record all parts indivudually and one guy then edits the audio and video into a final youtube video. I told our singer he should audition for the Zeppelin tour. We call this "Virtual Zeppelin" and our guys is way good enough to tour with Zep . Any thoughts? BigJetPlane
Amazing, the guy has an incredible voice. I think he works great in a LZ cover band, but I don't think Page & co. are looking for someone who can imitate Plant's look or in this case, his voice. I could be wrong, but I think they'll go with a singer who's a proven song writer, someone who has awesome vocal range and the ability to create new songs, and I don't think this new person will look or sound anything like Plant. I admit this is what I hope they'll do!
pinky
I would definatley see them if James was singing.
LidlessEye
They might consider Ronnie James Dio: an undoubtedly great singer with plenty of range - plus, he's of Jimmy & Jonesy's generation.

I'd be devastated. He'd be pretty close to my last choice. Just completely the wrong style IMHO.
Reggie29
IMO, we don't need a "soundalike clone" of Robert. What is required is something new and whomever they chose I would back their judgement. If you look at JP & JPJ's session history they played with plenty of good voices so they know what to look for. My previous suggestions included: Donovan (Leitch, not the sausage) Stephen Stills BTW, is Steve Marriott still around? For the Aussies, how about Jimmy Barnes? Jay & The PeeBees or; Jay & The Beeps I know there's another thread on this, but you know the motto: Do What Thou Wilt!
Knebby
Marriot is dead. I would say Stephen Stills was too old and too gentle. Barnes too raucous. Donovan - cannot get my head around that suggestion at all. Good thing we all think differently!

JP & JPJ have some history with him so it's not such a stretch. How and when did Marriott die?
beatbo
vanderbilly- virtual zep has alot of fans on this forum. more than one thread has been derailed when a new song was done and put up on you-tube. i also love your guitar lessons service-fabulous. welcome to the forum and can't wait for your input on all things zep. your singer smokes. i wouldn't mind him hooking up with page, jones, and bonham. he doesn't have the flouncy hair, just the pipes. he can cover the bases vocally (and then some) and give them a new frontline look that is non-plant. the rest of you guys really kick ass, and i enjoy your work. beat

Steve Marriott died on April 20, 1991, in a tough fire in his house...
Olipticle
You cant replace, you cant even fill in. What they can do is make a new band. thats bout it, a new front man might not do so well with plant so just make a new band.
LidlessEye
I'd be devastated. He'd be pretty close to my last choice. Just completely the wrong style IMHO. He's totally different from from Robert, of course, but there's no denying the li'l fella can wail.
