Ledzep101
So he used his number 1 a lot more than his number 2 in the 70s...does he still use it more now? If so why do you think they replicated his number 2 also other than the modifications?

huw
So he used his number 1 a lot more than his number 2 in the 70s...does he still use it more now? If so why do you think they replicated his number 2 also other than the modifications? Because a) #2 is the one with all the multiple switching options, so that makes it different, so that means that they can sell it; and because anything with Jimmy's name on it = $$$$$$$$$ for Gibson. Seriously though, some of the guys who have bought them have said that the necks on the #2 signatures are actually more comfortable to play than the #1 signatures. The #1 neck is so skinny & odd shaped that you love it or hate it; the #2 neck resembles it, but isn't quite as thin & feels a bit more natural in profile. JimmyPageZoSo56
What kind of 12 strings did Page use on his double neck?
sixpense
What kind of 12 strings did Page use on his double neck? Jimmy used Ernie Ball 2225 Nickel Extra Slinky Electric Guitar Strings (.008-.038) for 6 his string guitars and Ernie Ball 2230 Nickel 12-String Slinky Electric Guitar Strings for 12 string. sixpense
http://wholelottaled.webs.com/amps.htm Or you want info on amps before and after Zeppelin http://www.led-zeppe...hp?m=jimmy-main The photo of Jimmy @ Olympic for the LZ II session with the acoustic guitar dated as June 1969 is actually April 19, 1969. And it is probably the first known photo of Jimmy with the newly acquired Les Paul #1 purchased from Joe Walsh. (Guitar is on the stool to the left of Page.) The April 19 1969 date comes from the Jimmy Page limited edition photo book.

No, he used .009's but it looks like he used a banjo string (.008) for the high e. http://led-zeppelin.org/joomla/studio-and-live-gear/330 thanks man. Yup. And if you watch It Might Get Loud, he tells us that he threw out his low E and just moved each string down and added the banjo string as the high E. JimmyPageZoSo56
What was the little bell-like pedal on stage that he used? Was it just a switch to turn on his overdrive/distortion?

FireOpal
Dumb ass question: when discussing the Fender Strat used on Over the Hills and Far Away, Plantspanked says [about its pick-ups], "even thru a TR, they had that sizzle." What's a TR? He was talking about when he first brought the guitar to Jimmy in Electric Lady Studios, and JP plugged it in.
