SuperDave
Haven't seen this anywhere else on the forum but Ben Harper has a new band called Relentless 7 and on their website is a streamed version of John Paul Jones and Ben performing a great version of Good Times Bad Times from Bonnaroo in Tennessee in August 2007. First is the Billboard article about Ben's new band and below that is the link for his band's official website. GTBT will play automatically once the page appears. Enjoy. Ben Harper Rocks Out With New Band November 11, 2008 , 1:25 PM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Ben Harper is recording an album with a new band, Relentless7, and will play a handful of club shows next month to introduce the material. "White Lies for Dark Times" is due in May via Virgin and finds Harper backed by guitarist Jason Mozersky, drummer Jordan Richardson and bassist Jesse Ingalls, the latter two of the Los Angeles band Oliver Future. Relentless7's Web site is now streaming a ripping cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times" (which Harper played with Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and Roots drummer ?uestlove at Bonnaroo in 2007) and the original "Serve Your Soul," a riffy blast which fades out into piano and violin. The group debuted Oct. 29 during a Beastie Boys-led "get out the vote" show in Youngstown, Ohio, and will be back on the road starting Dec. 3 in Solana Beach, Calif. A Harper spokesperson says the artist's longtime band, the Innocent Criminals, has not broken up and that Harper simply wanted to try something different this time around. His last album, 2007's "Lifeline," has sold 173,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Here are Relentless7's tour dates: Dec. 3: Solana Beach, Calif. (Belly Up Tavern) Dec. 4: Los Angeles (Spaceland) Dec. 5: Los Angeles (the Mint) Dec. 7: Santa Cruz, Calif. (the Catalyst) Dec. 8: San Francisco (the Independent) http://www.relentless7.com/ What do you think of the performance of this version?

Great stuff and he seemed really into it. Out of all the people who played Bonnaroo in 2007 I think John Paul Jones had the best time.... Check out these pictures of him jamming in the campground!!!!! http://bonnaroo.proboards21.com/index.cgi?...1285&page=

What an experience to him up close like that and just having an impromtu jam session. And right next to where you were hanging out before the show. Did you take these photos? Did you get to meet and talk with him at all? Anyway, good work. Love it!

I did talk to a few people who did meet him and they said he was having a blast at the fest. But that is the great thing about Bonnaroo, most of the entertainers walk around checking out the other shows and enjoy the vibe of the farm. Many jump on stage and jam with the outher groups. It's a 4 day hippie fest for music lovers out in the middle of nowhere. After John Paul Jones played there in 07 most figured he whold be back in 08 and bring his "friends". When Robert and Allison were anounced allot of people thought "you know who" were going to play. It's a great party and if anyone has the oppertunity I recomend it. SuperDave
Looks like a blast. The performers seem so free there with the environment that is there. That is as you, said hopping up on stage with others, which turn into these pretty cool jam sessions.
