Do You Have Killer Headphones?

Recommended Posts

I went to the store dead-set on buying some Bose or Infinity wireless headphones. I checked them out, and then tried on a $19.99 Sony headphones just to compare. My Townsend ears honestly couldn't tell the difference. Since every pair of headphones I've ever owned regardless of quality ended up eventually shorting out, I bought the Sony set. No shorts and no regrets yet.

I have the Bose noise-cancelling headphones as well. I still feel a bit guilty for spending that much money on headphones, but what the hell - we only live once :)

I tried the noise-canceling and the non-noise-canceling and did not hear a difference. My test was to clap my hands lightly near my ears. I heard the clapping on both. Did you hear a difference??

It doesn't cancel out that kind of noise, unfortunately. I have some loud-ass neighbors I'd desperately like to tune out.

The Bose 'phones cancel out the more steady-signal noises, such as the running motor on your air conditioner or refrigerator, the roaring engines on a plane, that sort of thing. Though it will somewhat fade the ambient noises too - such as people talking or a television blaring - it isn't really designed for that.

When comparison shopping for headphones, I found that reading the reviews on Amazon.com was really helpful. It was down to Bose and Sennheiser - they seem to be the best.

I have Sony headphones too, and I really like them. I put them on when I'm riding the bus to and from work, and I'm in my own little musical world.

I know you're looking for headphones. However, if you're interested in earphones, then I totally recommend the SE210 Sure Earphones. They're a bit pricey, but they are worth every single penny.

I've had the Sennheisser earphones, the Bose in-ear headphones, and some Sony ones, but nothing compares to the sound of these guys. The sound is ear-blowing, you'll feel you're at a concert due to the amount of bass and surround sound. (yes, surround sound), also the volume level is defenitely higher than regular earphones. I tested them.

Pros:

  • The ear plug has a foam that takes the shape of your ear canal, so that you enjoy every decibel coming out of them.
  • the cords are split in two cables, the first one you can use as an Audio link for your MP3 player to a home stereo.
  • You get a 1 year warranty, and it covers everything. (except the loss of the product of course)
  • The cords are thick, so no matter how rough you handle them, they won't snap. (Trust me, I'm not very careful with mine)
  • Best sound out there. (way better than my previous Bose ones)
  • It comes with a handy pouch filled with replacements for ear buds, foams and what not.

Cons:

  • Price. Although if you buy them from BestBuy instead, the black ones are $149.99. ($30 less than the brands website)
  • I haven't found another flaw. (I've had them for about a year)

Trust me, these are worth trying. I'm not trying to sell them or anything even though it may look like it, but it's just that these are the best earphones out there. I just spread the word ;)
