huw
Plant's response was something like "I know it's wrong...that's what we were good at..." Actually it was more like "Listen you cheeky bugger, that's not a mistake, that's what we were good at."
The Pagemeister
Actually it was more like "Listen you cheeky bugger, that's not a mistake, that's what we were good at." Yeah, I kinda remember that, but was it bugger or twit ? I'm thinking it was from a Rolling Stone mag article.
Zachman
haha .. thats y pagey is the best is because he didnt care much about theory and all that nonsense.. he always played out of emotion and feelings at a particular time.. just listen to his solos.. every one is all emotion and it just flows from him.. theory shouldnt undermine emotion and led zeppelin is about getting emotions out of the listener not just time theory and all that bs
I have got a horsey
JPJ said the song was in 3/16 time, which, given its speed, was far too impractical for Bonham to drum to, so Bonham figured that he would just play it in 4/
SuzyandtheZodiac
What does it mean to be musically wrong? Or right for that matter? As people here have already said, if it sounds good, it's music to you. Others have also explained how Black Dog can fit into music theory just nicely and that your friend should know a little bit more about it before making overly pretentious statements. leddy
If sounds good its got to be right, because Bonham plays 4/4 and the rest in shows how good they are to \make it sound so great
Trinity
Look at it this way: Musically wrong? So what? It sounds good? YES! Zeppelin always bent the rules, and Black Dog is no exception!
