Recommended Posts

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product...itar?sku=516458

and have my dads old 60's harmony rocket B)B)

http://harmony.demont.net/images/0/H54_Rocket_1966_02.jpg

thats not mine but its the exact same model neck is reeeealy nice on it brought it to guitar center yesterday and everybody was admiring it =) one of the guys that worked there was obsessed with it haha

all i have is an old 80's peavey amp, which sounds pretty cool for bluesy things but for more zep stuff going to be getting a marshall, probly mg30fx

Wow! Nice guitars, Zoso1968! Your acoustic Jasmine cutaway, does it have a port where you can plug it into a speaker? My acoustic/electric cutaway gut string does. I bet yours does too. Also, love your dad's 60s guitar! ;) Happy playing! (sorry, I know nothing about amps and stuff.) haha :P Good luck in procuring a Marshall for the bluesy zeppelin stuff! :)

Billie Jean

(can't help but) ;)

(in case there's no CD around but there's a guitar, and

you have a hankering)

(Written & Composed by Michael Jackson)

Intro

(basically, F#m, G#m/F#, alternately)

Verse 1

F#mShe was G#m/F#more like a F#mbeauty queen from a G#m/F#movie scene.

I said don't G#m/F#mind, but what F#mDO you mean G#m/F#"I am the Bm7one,

who will dance, on the floor, in the F#m7round?" G#m/F#, F#m, G#m/F#

She said, "I am the Bm7one, who will dance, on the floor, in the F#mround". G#m/F#,F#m, G#m/F#

(repeat, but with next lyrics) then:

Bridge:

DPeople always told me, "Be F#mcare-ful what you do.

And don't Dgo around breaking young girls' F#mhearts."

And Dmother always told me, "Be F#mcare-ful of who you love.

And be Dcareful of what you do,

'cause the C#7lie becomes the truth. Hey, hey!

(then)

(back to beginning for the singing of the CHORUS--"Billie Jean's not my lover," etc.)

My own drum composition in 7/4 and 6/4 time, for a friend's band he wants me to drum in...

drumz.jpg

This is what I have so far.

It's actually very easy to play (for me at least). Removing the hi-hat/ride on the 2 and 5 in the first bar and on the 1 and 4 in the 2nd makes it a lot easier to play.

I'm still on a blues kick, been attending all the local Blues Fests this summer. As a result pretty much all I've been playing is blues. However for one reason or another I'm in a slump. Everything that comes from my hands sounds like Born In Chicago or Easy Baby.

I end up working on all sorts at the same time....or nothing at all! haha!

You know that guitar dual in the film "Crossroads"...I am finishing off the Fifth Caprice solo in that. Got it down to a fine art now. Also played Surfing with the Alien again the other day after not playing it for ages. Suprised I remembered it all!

What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

marvin_gaye.jpg

The chord progression for the verses is:

Emaj7, C#m, alternating. I try to re-create Bob Babbitt's (& Jamerson's) nice bass lines here on my acoustic guitar bass strings. ;)

(Just strum, play around with the rhythm)

Note* All this is in standard tuning

(start singin' "mother", using the note C♯, which is, B-string, 2nd fret)

Emaj7Mother, mother, there's too many C♯mof you crying.

Emaj7Brother, brother brother, there's far too many C♯mOF you dying.

You know, we've F♯mgot to find a way

To bring some Esus4/F#loving here today

Emaj7Father, father, there's no need to C♯mescalate.

Emaj7War is not the answer.

For, only love can C♯mconquer hate

You know we've F♯mgot to find a way

To bring some Esus4/F#loving here today.

Oh, F♯mpicket lines and Esus4/F#picket signs

Don't F♯mpunish me with bru-Esus4/f♯tality

F♯mTalk to me. So Esus4/F♯YOU can see

What's Emaj7goin' on

What's C♯mgoin' on

What's Emaj7goin' on

I'll tell you what's C♯mgoin' on...

(instrumental interlude) (with improvised vocals, like Marvin ;) oooooooo...)

Here are the tabs: :D

:yesnod: Hey that's wonderful! I wanna learn it in standard tuning. I love Jimmy's way--of course! But i'm squeamish when it comes to tweaking my classical guitar's tuning too much. Ya know, nylon strings are sensitive. :)

yeah, i'm actually not using my regular acoustic for it because of the same reasons. But it's actually like, perfectly perfect when i play it, like you may think i was just listening to the song itself if you heard it, maybe ill post a vid sometime.(:

Now i just need to find someone with Bonzo's Drumming capibility, Percy's godlike vocals, and someone who can play a series of instruments at the same time and sound amazing, and im all set (:

I tried the song with regular Am & Dm chords, and I find they work better as far as ease goes. But then again, use both forms, if you like, depending on your preferences for the different sounds. :)

Sorry, yesterday, I gave wrong chords. I was strumming it today and tweaked it. The changes are in green...

I googled William Zantzinger and learned that he died this year, on January 9th. Death is sad, either way. (of course.)

Improvise and strum that guitar to create instrumental breaks between verses or wherever. If you're lucky enough to have a harmonica player around or any other fellow musician. You play the basic progression, like this:

C♯m, B, C♯m, B,

E, C♯m, B

E, C♯m, B

A, B, E, C♯m,

A, B, C♯m

A, B, E, C♯m

A, B, E, (or any other variation thereof, have fun with improv.! :D )

Landslide

by Stevie Nicks

This wonderful song uses "Travis" picking. This way, you can really hear that niicce! bass line! No strumming, here. So, it's a little harder. Just do it a lot without thinking of chords, just to get the feel of it. Takes some getting used to. But worth it! Basically, some rules of Travis pickin' are:

  • Right hand plucks, instead of strums.
  • Thumb plays bass strings (in red) while the trebles are plucked by index, middle and ring. (strings, G,B and E, respectively)
  • The bass strings are the (see tabs) (top strings, while you're holding the guitar) E, A and D strings.
  • The trebles are the (see tabs) (bottom strings) G, B & E strings.
  • In Landslide, the plucking sequence is, thumb, index, middle, thumb, ring, index.
  • To master the rhythm, there's a longer duration after the initial thumb pluck. In other words, after the thumb plucks, wait a little, and then do the rest of the plucking sequence in relatively quick succession.
  • Like this, thumb (wait), then quickly, index-middle-thumb-ring-index.

NOTES:

♩Left hand finger positions are indicated at left.

♩Right hand fingers are indicated on the right.

♩I'll only include, for today, the
