BlackDog71 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Maybe I'm wrong but I have to say "Four Sticks" is often left out of the Zep IV discussions and I find it to be a fantastic song with Bonham's genius front and center. Others may love it as I do, but I rarely find myself talking to other Zeppelin fans about this song. Some even say that's it filler on IV... which is a dumb statement to me. It is hard to call anything on that album "filler." So...let me know what song you feel isn't given enough air play, discussion, or credit in the Led Zeppelin catalog. Quote
Rock Action Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I concur with Four Sticks. That song didn't get it's proper due back in the day. Still doesn't despite the fact that Page/Plant did it in 1994-95, as did Plant with SS. Terribly underappreciated piece of work. Quote
jimmie ray Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 "In the Light" never gets airplay or mention. The tempo changes are amazing, as is the entire album that it's on. Quote
Bustle In My Hedgerow Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Love love love 'Four Sticks'... the drumming is amazingly powerful.. wonder why? .. and the complexity of the tempo makes it so enjoyable to listen to and pick apart. Quote
caroselambra~ Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 *i'm gonna crawl* hardly ever gets mentioned, and i love it Quote
imPLANTed Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 "In the Light" never gets airplay or mention. The tempo changes are amazing, as is the entire album that it's on. I totally agree. I just recently purchased PG and it just continues to blow me away. After hearing "In the Light", I was so excited, I just wanted to share this "rare jewel" with everyone I knew. Quote
mad dog Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 *i'm gonna crawl* hardly ever gets mentioned, and i love it YES! Great, great song! One of the best..it oozes emotion Quote
maven2blue Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 The Rover is one of my favorites. I've never heard it on radio and don't recall anyone talking about the song. Quote
zoso75 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Down By The Seaside. Love the changes and the guitar solo !! Quote
BlackDog71 Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 Down By The Seaside. Love the changes and the guitar solo !! Yes......excellent choice. I love that song. It is so mellow and musical at the same time. One of PG's "forgotten" songs. Quote
GoneFishing Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Very much agree I love" Four Sticks "as well as "The Rover" and I will add "That's The Way" truely beautiful song . Quote
DanelectroGod Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 How about Darlene off of Coda. It's a great tight groove, and sounds like the guys were having fun. I wonder why it was left off of ITTOD. It's the only song from the ITTOD session that has writing credits to all four of them....... Darlene Quote
zepyep Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Hi all, Can't say,I think all their songs are underrated.Yep. KB Quote
BlackandGold Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Poor Tom. I'll second Poor Tom. Love the drumming. Quote
MisterMcLov1n Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 "In the Light" never gets airplay or mention. The tempo changes are amazing, as is the entire album that it's on. Really? I hear it on the radio all the time. In fact, most Zep songs I hear on the radio are from PG. For me, their most underrated song is Your Time is Gonna Come. I love JPJ's awesome keyboarding in it. Achilles Last Stand and Down by the Seaside are close behind. Quote
GAC64 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 "In the Light" never gets airplay or mention. The tempo changes are amazing, as is the entire album that it's on. I agree. One of Zeppelin's best! But too long for radio. Quote
jimmie ray Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Really? I hear it on the radio all the time. In fact, most Zep songs I hear on the radio are from PG. I've found that when traveling in different places, and tuning in to other radio stations, the format is much different than where I live. For some reason, it seems the variety of Zep songs has broodened lately here - but the variety of other bands played has become very limited. Quote
tophat Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Agree, Four Sticks, The Rover. Thank You is another great one. Quote
Stevedore Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 *i'm gonna crawl* hardly ever gets mentioned, and i love it Agree 100%. An amazing tune. One of Robert's best vocals IMO. You can just feel the sadness in his voice. Quote
Trinity Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Fool in the Rain seems overlooked to me. Quote
Adi Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I'll say Four Sticks, The Rover, In The Light, The Wanton Song and Celebration Day are their most overlooked songs IMO... Quote
Dzldoc Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Always thought this was a catchy little tune "Rock On!" Quote
