mad dog Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 He already has a guitar and has taken lessons he just likes to play the game to. I wouldnt buy him the game...games are a waste of time. He wont practice if hes playing a game Quote
MisterMcLov1n Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) I wouldnt buy him the game...games are a waste of time. He wont practice if hes playing a game I guess reading books and watching movies are a waste of time too. It's really no different from any other form of entertainment. How old are you, 80? According to a Rolling Stone article, Jimmy Page is nervous about licensing master recordings to "strangers" (master recordings must be sent to the development company's audio department to be integrated into the game), so Led Zeppelin's appearance in any game like Rock Band or Guitar Hero is unlikely for the time being. Even more unlikely is them getting their own game. But however, I would've said the same about The Beatles a year ago, but they're getting their own Rock Band game holiday next year. So never say never. And to the people who say play a real guitar: do you have any idea how asinine that argument sounds in the context of other games? Hey you play Madden 2009, why don't you play on a real pro football team? Hey, you play Call of Duty 4, why don't you join the real Marines? Hey, you play Grand Theft Auto, why don't you kill real police officers? But anyway, I would rather the boys of Led Zeppelin put their time and resources into a new album or tour instead of developing a video game. But I think it would be really cool if they decided to cooperate. Edited December 18, 2008 by MisterMcLov1n Quote
ms_zeppelin94 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 If they ever did, it would have to come with a violin bow Beside the "fretboard" on screen there would be another thing showing when & how to bow the controller (which would have a sensor on the strum bar that knew when you bowed it) Quote
zep73 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I'm no big fan of either Rock Band or GH, but the accesories for a Zep driven game would be pretty cool, I have to admit. Imagine Jimmy's Les Paul sunburst, the SG doubleneck, maybe even the Danelectro. And you'd have to lose those lame ass "drum kits" and buy the Bonham Ludwig vistalite "Zep Set" version, complete with three circle symbol instead of the generic bass drum logos they sell for the front of the kit....! NickZepp Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I think Zepp will eventually allow it because of the money involved with it. But they would probably get more than most acts get for their songs being on these games. Which songs would you best like to hear on these games? Outside of the easy ones like Stairway, Kashmir, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and Achilles of course. Quote

ledzep45 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 An Idea is that if you have a pc that can play games smoothley, get GH 2 or 3 and download moded songs. People have made mods (their own songs) for led zep songs to play on GH. Quote

Outside of the easy ones like Stairway, Kashmir, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and Achilles of course. I think The Ocean would be the most fun and it fits the bill length wise. TSRTS version gets me playing air guitar more than any song. Heartbreaker as well. Both have some of the most memorable riffs. And the defense above about Guitar Hero is a very good point, thanks for that. Id love an all Zeppelin GH. It would extend what I already do when listening to them. But I dont think it will happen until the rights are passed on to someone else, by then it may be too late though as technology could have just done it for us. But they need to get over the thought that this will taint them or ruin their integrity. They should think about all the young people in the world that would be introduced to the best band ever. MisterMcLov1n Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Seriously! Can you imagine playing Moby Dick on those four whimpy little plastic drums? It would be the most difficult song in the game due to the drumkit's limited pads. And isn't Moby Dick meant to be hell? Quote
ms_zeppelin94 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 They couldn't make a Zeppelin GH anyways - the characters hair never moves!! What's Led Zeppelin without their beautifully flowing hair?! Quote
Scott78 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I'am amazed that GH has become the center of the music world. I guess it's just me but i never will see the merit in this game. To me the bands playing look so chessy . I actually think alot of kids prefer this game to the real thing. The thing i think is the worst is this game is not true rock . It's on KFC buckets , even commercials with Moms playing it with their kids. I always thought hard rock was an escape for people who werent into the mainstream pop music. But what GH has done is made hard rock the current pop culture trend ! due to the populairty of a video game. I just dont think thats a great thing for music. I can still understand LZ fans wanting a special game of Zeppelin . But GH on the whole imo is just nonsene . It's no different than the Pokemon craze a few years back . Trends are Trends Quote

Trends are Trends That's why Zep should be on Rock Band - a music game series that still has dignity. The Beatles are very tricky to license, and Harmonix (the peeps who make RB) were able to secure exclusivity to the entire Beatles catalog. HMX promise great delivery and artistic control for the band. Guitar Hero guarantees a complete sell out. Quote

HMX promise great delivery and artistic control for the band. Guitar Hero guarantees a complete sell out. Both games now offer drums, guitar (and bass), and Mic. So they are practically the same and only slightly differ in presentation. And both are equally popular with rock band beginning to get the edge because of how many songs it offers. So I dont think that argument is valid. Quote

Rock Band is the superior game in every way. They'll come along eventually. If you went in a time machine back 5 years and asked Jimmy about having Zep on iTunes he would say no. Quote
