kakdaddy
The "American Beauty" soundtrack, particularly Elliott Smiths version of the Beatles "Because". In that vein, also the "I Am Sam" soundtrack with Paul Westerbergs "Nowhere Man", Rufus Wainwrights "Across The Universe", & Eddie Vedders "Youve Got To Hide Your Love Away". Scorsese is always great for popular music in film too. The Stones "Tell Me" & Creams live version of "Steppin' Out" in "Meanstreets" & all of "Goodfellas" are just great examples of popular music in film. kakdaddy
Oooops, I thought you meant "soundtracks" instead of movies about music or bands. In that case, "Ladies & Gentlemen The Fabulous Stains" which I always heard about & watched for the first time the other night which was really good, & my 2 personal favorites are "Phantom Of The Paradise" & "Times Square". jimmie ray
I haven't seen "Yellow Submarine" in sooo many years, but remember it being fantastic! "Forrest Gump" had a well thought out soundtrack - love the Duanne Eddy song in the beginning...

spats
Almost Famous by far. It helps it was written and directed by Cameron Crowe who was actually there to experience all of that in the early 70's.
