What year would a full blown Zeppelin reunion had the most impact

Recommended Posts

Since Bonzo's passing, what year do you think a reformed Zeppelin would have made the most impact on the world of rock. In considering, take health in consideration. When they got together following Live Aid, I don't think Jimmy was in shape to make it work. I'm going with 1993. I think the energy of Robert's fate of Nations, the Coverdale/Page work of Jimmy, and JPJ disc with Diamanda Galas could have been a monster comeback if combined.

As much as I'd love to see Robert change his mind, I'm not gonna let the disappointment take away from the body of work he has made post-zeppelin. Time to move and and support all the guys. Life's too short.............

If they had reunited in the nineties, it wouldn't have been anything special. The Page and Plant thing was needed to give their careers life again while still avoiding the name.

I would actually say that when they did (2007)was the time which was going to have the biggest impact or there or thereabouts. It had been ages since they last did a full set together and so there was a big mystique surrounding them. They also did benefit from the nostalgia thing to an extent.

Also, Jimmy had been out of the limelight for a long time, his last major thing being the Black Crowes, although he did do some one off performances with Plant in the early 2000's. Jimmy playing again was the main bit of excitement for me.

I always thought it would have made sense to had done tour or at least a few shows during 2003 when The DVD and HTWWW were released. That material being released was a pretty big deal and a long time coming.

I tend to agree with you. Although anytime would have been successful financially, the product may not have lived up to the normal standards expected. Plus, I don't think Jason would have been mature enough before this decade.

Good point in regard to Jason, although besides that around 1993-4 would have been a good time to it. That was when the whole grunge scene was at it's peak and they could have showed them how it's done.

:o ? I for one, was just despairing in 1994-> when Kurt Cobain had died and much of the rock culture of the time was going downhill. Unledded was one of the few things that offered consolation, and a new Zep album would have been most welcome also!

There was an article in Classic Rock Magazine about all the previous failed reunion attempts and I think there was a plan to reunite around this time actually,I think it fell apart because Robert was busy doing his "66 To Timbuktu" compilation. (Waits for all the Robert bashing - please don't :( )
