Roxie
Mother Love Bone - 'Man Of Golden Words' Wanna show you something like The joy inside my heart Seems I've been living in the temple of the dog Where would I live, if I were a man of golden words? And would I live, at all? Words and music, my only tools Communication And on her arrival, I will set free the birds It's a pretty time of year, and the mountains sing out loud Tell me, Mr. Golden Words, how's about the world? Tell me can you tell at all? Words and music, my only tools Communication Let's fall in love with music The driving force in our living The only international language Divine glory, the expression The knees bow, the tongue confesses The lord of lords, the king of kings The king of kings Words and music - my only tools Communication
lucyinthesky
Picture yourself in a boat on a river, With tangerine trees and marmalade skies. Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, A girl with kaleidoscope eyes. Cellophane flowers of yellow and green, Towering over your head. Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes, And she's gone. Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Ah... Ah... Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain, Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies. Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers, That grow so incredibly high. Newspaper taxis appear on the shore, Waiting to take you away. Climb in the back with your head in the clouds, And you're gone. {CHORUS} Picture yourself on a train in a station, With plasticine porters with looking glass ties. Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile, The girl with kaleidoscope eyes. I had reasons to chose my name here;- ) This song always takes me on a journey to the most beautiful places of my dreams... Edit: oops, I guess you intended us only to list special lines...sorry, but I can't chose which lines are the most inspiring for me...

wanna be drummer
What I got ~Sublime Life is too short so love the one you got cause you might get runover or you might get shot Never start no static I just get it off my chest Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest Take a small example A tip from me take all of your money and give it up to charity Lovin's what I got It's within my reach Facade ~Disturbed No one knows, just what has become of her, Shattered doll, desperate, Oh so innocent, and delicate, But too damn obdurate, And obstinate to let go Broken down, hurt again, It never ends, Frightened and trembling Did she fall again, an accident? Her eyes encircled in, black again, I can’t believe that she’s still with him! For how long will you try? How long until you walk away? Your façade can’t disguise, The fact that you’re in misery! wanna be drummer
And of course, the greatest lyrics of all time Excerpts from 8 Mile ~Eminem (Maybe I shouldn't post the artist, as I know how many of you will dismiss this simply because it's rap) You gotta live it to feel it, you didn't you wouldn't get it Or see what the big deal is, why it wasn't the skillest To be walkin this borderline of Detroit city limits It's different, it's a certain significance, a certificate of authenticity, you'd never even see But it's everything to me, it's my credibility You never seen heard smelled or met a real MC who's incredible upon the same pedestal as me But yet I'm still unsigned, havin a rough time Sit on the porch with all my friends and kick dumb rhymes Go to work and serve MC's in the lunchline But when it comes crunch time, where do my punchlines go Who must I show, to bust my flow Where must I go, who must I know Or am I just another crab in the bucket Cause I ain't havin no luck with this little Rabbit so fuck it Maybe I need a new outlet, I'm startin to doubt shit I'm feelin a little skeptical who I hang out with I look like a bum, yo my clothes ain't about shit At the Salvation Army tryin to salvage an outfit And it's cold, tryin to travel this road Plus I feel like I'm on stuck in this battlin mode My defenses are so up, but one thing I don't want is pity from no one, the city is no fun There is no sun, and it's so dark Sometimes I feel like I'm just bein pulled apart From each one of my limbs, by each on of my friends It's enough to just make me wanna jump out of my skin Sometimes I feel like a robot, sometimes I just know not what I'm doin I just blow, my head is a stove top I just explode, the kettle gets so hot Sometimes my mouth just overloads the ass that I don't got But I've learned, it's time for me to U-turn Yo it only takes one time for me to get burned Ain't no fallin no next time I meet a new girl I can no longer play stupid or be immature I got every ingredient, all I need is the courage Like I already got the beat, all I need is the words Got the urge, suddenly it's a surge Suddenly a new burst of energy is occured Time to show these free world leaders the three and a third I am no longer scared now, I'm free as a bird Then I turn and cross over the median curb Hit the 'burbs and all you see is a blur from 8 Mile Road
wanna be drummer
The Greatest Lyrics of All Time Part 2 Excerpts from Sing for the Moment ~Eminem They say music can alter moods and talk to you Well can it load a gun up for you , and cock it too Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude Just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sued See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols And they want to get one cause they think the shit's cool Not knowin' we really just protectin' ourselves, we entertainers Of course the shit's affectin' our sales, you ignoramus But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our checks in the mail It's fucked up ain't it How we can come from practically nothing to being able to have any fuckin' thing that we wanted That's why we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing Except for a dream, and a fuckin' rap magazine Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it Cause we consider these minutes golden And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our songs and we can... Virginia
This song is beautiful and has a great message; it's one of my favorites: Breathe 2am 2 Am and she calls me cause I'm still awake Can you help me unravel my latest mistake I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season. Yeah we walk through the doors so accusing their eyes Like they have any right at all to criticize Hypocrites you're all here for the very same reason. Cause you can't jump the track We're like cars on a cable and life's like an hourglass glued to the table, No one can find the rewind button girl So just cradle your head in your hands. And breathe, just breathe, whoa breathe just breathe May he turned 21 on the base of Fort Bliss Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist Ain't been sober since maybe October of last year Here in town you can tell he's been down for while But my God it's so beautiful when the boy smiles Wanna hold him but maybe I'll just sing about it Cause you can't jump the track We're like cars on a cable And life's like an hourglass glued to the table, No one can find the rewind button boys so cradle your head in your hands And breathe, just breathe, whoa breath just breathe There's a light at each end of this tunnel you shout cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out And these mistakes you've made You'll just make them again if you'll only try turnin' around 2Am and I'm still awake writing this song If i get it all down on paper it's no longer inside of me threaten' the life it belongs to. And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd Cause these words are my diary screamin' out aloud And I know that you'll use them however you want to. But you can't jump the track We're like cars on a cable And life's like an hourglass glued to the table, No one can find the rewind button now Sing it if you understand...yeah breath Just breathe, ohho breathe
Robert's Plant
Cool thread! This one, both in vocals and words, always gets me: It may very well be my most favorite non-Zep song. It is... When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it Be And in my hours of darkness She is standing right in front of me Speaking words of wisdom Let it Be Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be Whisper words of wisdom Let it Be And when the brokenhearted people Living in the world agree There will be an answer Let it Be For though they may be parted There is still a chance that they will see There will be an answer Let it Be Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be There will be an answer Let it Be Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be Whisper words of wisdom Let it Be Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be Whisper words of wisdom Let it Be And when the night is cloudy There is still a light that shines on me Shine on till tomorrow Let it Be I wake up to the sound of music Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it Be Yeah, Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be There will be an answer Let it Be Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be Whisper words of wisdom Let it Be
ninelives
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool To weep is to appear sentimental To reach out for another is to risk involvement To expose feelings is to risk exposing yourself To place your ideas, your dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss To love is to risk not being loved in return To hope is to risk despair To try is to risk failure. But the greater hazard in life is to risk nothing, They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow or love chained by certitudes, they are slaves who have forfeited freedom. Only a person who risks is Free.
mag9990
"Who was born in a house full of pain Who was trained not to spit in the fan Who was told what to do by the man Who was broken by trained personnel Who was fitted with collar and chain Who was given a seat in the stand Who was breaking away from the pack Who was only a stranger at home Who was ground down in the end Who was found dead on the phone Who was dragged down by the stone." That's the last stanza from "Dogs" off of Pink Floyd's Animals Overall it's really great album, thats just my favorite song off of it. I really like how both "Pigs on the Wing" tracks coincide with the idea of the dog-type character; "You know that I care what happens to you, and I know that you care for me too, so I don't feel alone, or the weight of the stone, now that I've found somewhere safem to bury my bone; Any fool knows a dog needs a home, a shelter from pigs on the wing." JimmyPageZoSo56
Breathe - Pink Floyd Breathe, breathe in the air Dont be afraid to care Leave but dont leave me Look around and chose your own ground For long you live and high you fly And smiles youll give and tears youll cry And all you touch and all you see Is all your life will ever be Run, rabbit, run Dig that hole, forget the sun, And when at last the work is done Dont sit down, its time to dig another one For long you live and high you fly But only if you ride the tide And balanced on the biggest wave You race toward an early grave. Time - Pink Floyd Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking And racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in the relative way, but youre older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way The time is gone, the song is over, thought Id something more to say Home, home again I like to be here when I can And when I come home cold and tired Its good to warm my bones beside the fire Far away across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells. LedZepChick
I always dedicate this song to myself when I start sweating the small stuff...It really does put everything in perspective... Hoobastank - "If I Were You" You seem to find the dark when everything is bright. You look for all that's wrong instead of all that's right. Does it feel good to you to rain on my parade? You never say a word unless it's to complain. It's driving me insane... If I were you, holding the world right in my hands, the first thing I'd do is thank the stars for all that I have. If I were you... Look what surrounds you now more than you've ever dreamed. Have you forgotten just how hard it used to be? So what's it going to take for you to realize it all could go away in one blink of an eye? It happens all the time... If I were you, holding the world right in my hands, the first thing I'd do, is thank the stars above, tell the ones I love that I do... Yeah If I Were You, Whoa, yeah If I Were You If I Were You, whoaaaa If I Were You So what's it going to take for you to realize it all could go away in one blink of an eye? It happens all the time... If I Were You, holding the world right in my hands, the first thing I'd do, is thank the stars above, for the ones I love, take a breath and enjoy the view, live the life that I wanted to. ZeppFanForever
List lines or stanzas of poems or lyrics to songs the you are inspired by or just...love How's it going "Jimmy's A Legend?" I have been listening to GEORGE HARRISON'S legendary landmark album ALL THINGS MUST PASS from 1970. This album was released around a time when THE BEATLES were about to fall apart and the songs in this album expressed George's true feelings about those painful moments. In a way, we can all relate to these songs. In my opinion, GEORGE HARRISON could be just a much of a great lyricist than John and Paul. Its just too bad that GEORGE HARRISON never got his due or the recognition that he truly deserved when he was a BEATLE. There are two GEORGE HARRISON songs that I would like to quote and are as follows: ISN'T IT A PITY Words and Music by George Harrison Isn't it a pity, Isn't it a shame How we break each other's hearts, And cause each other pain How we take each other's love, Without thinking anymore Forgetting to give back Isn't it a pity Some things take so long, but how do I explain? When not too many people Can see we're all the same And because of all their tears, Their eyes can't hope to see The beauty that surrounds them - Oh isn't it a pity ALL THINGS MUST PASS Words and Music by George Harrison Sunrise doesn't last all morning A cloudburst doesn't last all day Seems my love is up, And has left you with no warning But it's not always going to be this grey All things must pass, all things must pass away Sunset doesn't last all evening A mind can blow those clouds away After all this my love is up and must be leaving But it's not always going to be this grey All things must pass All things must pass away All things must pass None of life's strings can last So, I must be on my way And face another day Now the darkness only stays at night time In the morning it will fade away Daylight is good at arriving at the right time No it's not always going to be this grey All things must pass, all things must pass away All things must pass, All things must pass away In my opinion, these two GEORGE HARRISON compositions could stand up to any Lennon/McCartney compositions or any other artist's composition anyday. R.I.P. George Harrison, Born 25 February 1943, Died 29 November 2001 at age 58. ROCK ON!

Mona
From "A Case of You" by Joni Mitchell I am a lonely painter I live in a box of paints I'm frightened by the devil And I'm drawn to those ones Who ain't afraid I remember that time you told me You said "Love is touching souls," Well, surely you touched mine Because part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time. And from "This Must be the Place (Naive Melody)" by the Talking Heads We drift in and out Sing into my mouth Out of all those kinds of people You got a face with a view I'm just an animal looking for a home Share the same space for a minute or two And you love me till my heart stops Love me till I'm dead Eyes that light up Eyes look through you Cover up the blank spots Hit me on the head Those two are just sheer beauty, if you ask me.
