achilleslaststand76 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Another day is ending And I remember when My world, came falling down Out there the stars stop dancing Lost in my darkness now The rain, keeps falling down Light of my life, where have you gone Love's true flame dies, without the warmth of your sun Ah - ah - ah - ah - ah - ah Here comes the blue train rollin' Across my heart it crawls The rain still pouring down Another day escapes me A little later maybe Love will roll around Light of my life, where have you gone Love's true flame dies, without the warmth of your sun I've been waiting on a corner Yeah, I've been waiting for a sign Ohhh, I've been waiting on the corner I've been waiting for a sign now, oh now Light of my life, where have you gone Love's true flame dies, without the warmth of your sun Whistle blowin', blue train rollin', carry my heart, my soul Whistle blowin', blue train rollin', carry my darling son Whistle blowin', blue train rollin', carry my heart I've been waiting on a corner I've been waiting for a sign now Ohh, I've been waiting on the corner I've been waiting for a sign, now, oh oh, ooh Whistle blowin', blue train rollin' Carry my heart now, oh yeah, ohhh I've been waiting on a corner I've been waiting for a sign Hear the blue train, hear the blue train, ohh It's the blue train rolling Quote

All of my Love was bad enough - but this is a desperate plea from a Fathers Heart - Robert Plant is a legend. Quote
Vega Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) FFS is that the saddest song of all time or what? All of my Love was bad enough - but this is a desperate plea from a Fathers Heart - Robert Plant is a legend. The whole Walking Into Clarksdale album is a pure genius and a delight to listen to, though musical critics never bothered to love it very much, or to shower it with awards Edited February 19, 2009 by Vega Quote
ninelives Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Gorgeous song - one of my favorites on the album. I find the lyrics as a whole incredibly moving, albeit very sad. I love how these are paired against the sparse instrumentation. Just highlights it even more. Quote
Vega Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Exactly, in case of this song it feels like a huge train moves along, the train being the Song, and you are inside it. Eery and wonderful. Quote
tetelisa Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 This has been one of my favourite songs since the first time I heard it! It's just... wonderful, divine, amazing! So sad, so tender... It's so emotional... I love it! Quote
SuperDave Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Exactly, in case of this song it feels like a huge train moves along, the train being the Song, and you are inside it. Eery and wonderful. This song, Most High, Please Read The Letter (original) and Walking Into Clarksdale were my faves from this album. I'm surprised they chose to not perform Blue Train on tour. Would have been a good choice and gone places with it. Could have really developed into something special live! Quote

Heart In Your Hand is probably my favorite on the album. It's incredibly painful lyrically but so beautiful. I also really like Shining In The Light - has a real "feel good" vibe to it. I found this album was one that really grew on me over time. I loved it when I first heard it but I needed to spend a lot of time to really appreciate it to the extent I do now. Quote

At least, for now.... Quote
bigzepfan Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) Looking over the lyrics I always thought he said: Carry my darkness on instead of carry my darling son. Edited February 21, 2009 by bigzepfan Quote
ninelives Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) Looking over the lyrics I always thought he said: Carry my darkness on instead of carry my darling son. I don't know! I just listened to the song again and it's hard to tell. Lyric sites are often not 100% accurate. Hmmm..... As an aside, I haven't listened to this in a while and Robert's vocals are absolutely fantastic - he really captures the sadness of the song so well. Edited February 21, 2009 by ninelives Quote
bigzepfan Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Definitely one of the best on the album. Such a great song and so much emotion. down home blues, jimmy and robert style!!! I wanted to see this song so bad live, but they never played it. I put this disc back in my car since this thread was started. I'm so glad I did. It is most excellent especially when most high. It's too bad timing was off. If Jonesey and Jason were on this album it probably would have won grammy's and the whole nine yards. Quote

Well they did win a Grammy for Most High without JPJ and Jason Quote
Aquamarine Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Ha - I listened to it today too and forgot just how good it was. Well they did win a Grammy for Most High without JPJ and Jason I think that's one of the best songs the two of them ever did, I love it to pieces. Quote

Well they did win a Grammy for Most High without JPJ and Jason Didn't know that. That was one of the better songs on the album and definitely one of the most rockin' I'll be listening to it every day for awhile. I even typed the lyrics myself listening to it when the thread was started and compared what I sing versus what was on here. A few other minor differences. I just saw on youtube this morning for the first time house of love and when i was a child live! Quote

bigzepfan Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 It's just amazing how much is on youtube. It's mindboggling considering that when I was a teenager in the late seventies/early eighties I had to drive half an hour to get to a record shop that had any bootlegs and 2 1/2 hours down to nyc to many great record shops. Now you hop online and there's everything at your fingertips. It is truly a different world. Quote

When i do go tubing I try to keep it to one band on each visit that way I'm not there all night. And even that can lead to a hundred other cool things. lol. Quote

Bong-Man Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I don't intend this to be mean, but is it at all possible that Robert occasionally wrote lyrics of loss that were meant for a woman ? Rumor is he's had a few. Quote
bigstickbonzo Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 It was the first song I liked when I listened to the album and is still my fav Page/Plant tune. Quote

I went to high school with the store clerk and he called me and said " Badgeholders is in, come tonight ,I hid a copy under the the counter for you". I still have the vinyl around here somewhere, along with a few others. I also think that WIC is a great album. Quote
