  1. I have an original “The Object” with the original box and paper stuffing inside. I’m not selling it, but a really clean one with the box can be very spendy these days - like in the $3000 - $6000 range, and sometimes more.

I would strongly suggest that you read as much as possible on the web about distinguishing fakes from originals, and please be careful, as there are lots of fakes out there being sold as real items.

It’s not my position to tell you what to buy for your father, but given the potential risk involved with buying a real “The Object”, and the fact that these don’t come up for sale often, you might consider getting him one of the freshly released autographed prints that Jimmy Page just put up for sale on his website. I have purchased from his site before and it is very reputable. I received a damaged item once and they replaced it immediately and gave me something for the inconvenience. The prints are also spendy, but you’ll be in good hands, with very little risk. I think it would make a great 60th birthday gift. Just a thought. Good luck.

I hear they are completely re-doing the whole movie to match today's environment. The former Gen-X movie will be targeted at younger audiences of Gen-Z and Gen Alpha. Bill Curbishley is working furiously with content creators to make it a reality. He will revise the role of former LZ manager, Peter Grant, to make sure no one squeezes an extra $.34 from the band (a nickel in today's value). Some planned changes to the off-stage sequences:

    1. To remove the violence of the "gangster" sequence at the start of the film, audiences will be treated with a speech from a real crime lord, Joe Biden - head of the Biden crime family. He will extol virtue signaling to the world by preaching his plans to remove all guns from US citizens and emphasizing how, in his day, he handled that gangster Corn Pop by taking him behind the gym.

    2. Apple will be one of the sponsors of the film and will feature Robert receiving his tour itinerary via text on his iPhone.

    3. The scene of Robert, Maureen, Karac, and Carmen playing in the water has been replaced with androgynous children playing indoors fully masked and with proper social distancing to avoid exposure to harmful viruses, bacteria, and fungi that are found in nature. Rachel Levine will reinforce the need to allow children to make gender identity decisions on their own without parental knowledge or consent at the youngest age possible.

    4. Climate expert Bill Gates has been retained to ensure no dogs, cats, horses, or cows are in the movie. Animals are bad for the environment, except insects which are both nutritious and a tasty treat! All cigarette use has been removed.

    5. JPJ's sequence will be re-shot outside of a church and cemetery location. No references to God, Jesus, or any form of religion will be allowed as church services are mass spreader events and need to be shut down. Jonesy will also be filmed preparing the food as to avoid any sexist patriarchal scenes. Maureen will be re-shot in the role similar to Kris Jenner - a strong business minded woman. She will not tell him that Peter called and sent a telegram. Rather, she will direct John that she has arranged for him to take the band on tour - tomorrow!

    6. Robert's epic battle to save Virginia Parker has been re-shot. His love interest will now be a man, and instead of a dark dingy castle in which he must save him, it will be shot at a trendy upscale boutique. There will be no sword fight, but instead Robert must use the correct color and pattern combination to design the perfect outfit to win the heart of his man.

    7. Jimmy's sequence will remain similar. He will cross a dangerous river and again ascend the mountainside leading a group of illegal immigrants to safe passage into a new land. The climax of his scene will no longer feature vibrant colors emanating from his sword, instead it will be replaced with Jimmy waving the Ukraine flag.  Nancy Piglosi will awkwardly kiss him and portray an age-appropriate love interest for the hero.

    8. A lot of work has been done to the Bonzo story. John Bonham, Jr. (Jason) will reprise the role of his late father. As reids stated, the costume department is busy trying to make Jason the spitting image of his father. Jason will again be shown working hard on the farm and will later cruise on down to the pub (not in a hot rod, but an electric scooter) to distribute his wealth to the patrons to ensure equity amongst the populous. Later, when he returns home for family time; he will no longer be laughing and dancing with mom Pat alongside his own son Jager playing the drums to the beat coming from the Apple Homepod mini. No, family bonding time will show the three on the couch playing Call of Duty together. As Moby Dick comes to a climax, Jason will race a Chevy Volt full speed down the track besting a rival Tesla competitor. Unfortunately, climate guru Bill Gates has removed the high intensity fire from the track.

    9. BLM has asked for a spot and a moment of silence after the scene of the kid being violently removed from MSG by the police during Dazed And Confused.

A couple of things will remain.

    1. Climate Czar John Kerry has demanded the LZ private jet, The Starship, remain in the film as the rich, powerful, elite cannot fly commercial.

    2. Hoodie Girl, Ana Pearce, has agreed to reprise her role in the film. Sadly, poor Arthur has been kicked to the curb (again) as Ana's son will now appear with her and throw the tambourine back to Robert during the STH solo!

This is going to be epic! I can't wait till the new film and concert experience. Hopefully I will live long enough for an official remastered version from the band.

I tried to offend everyone equally, hope that helps.

Please take my money now. I need to see this version ASAP.

  3. I own a stone cold mint original object, in box, and there is no doubt, as suggested above, that this object is fake. In fact, it’s a poor quality fake at that. Sad that people are being taken advantage of by unscrupulous sellers like this.

I feel the same as you. Premium is the one to get, but I honestly like the Pro artwork better (I'm a huge Zep III fan). I am going to be patient and see what happens....

I like the LZ III artwork better too, but here is the case against that model:

    1) The debut album artwork is the most iconic, and instantly recognizable to the super fan and the casual fan. Should you ever sell your machine, the debut art will likely see stronger demand and / or recognition.

    2) The LZ III model lacks some really key game play and accessory features, that will certainly detract from future value and collectibility, not to mention current enjoyment.

    3) When you are spending multiple thousands of dollars on a game, it’s important to treat it as an investment as much as a an entertainment source. I look at this in the same manner as the 1965 V6 Mustang as compared to the V8 Mustang. The V6 is worth a fraction of the price of a factory V8 Mustang, and the V8 is head and shoulders more desirable. For that reason, I’m focussed on the LZ Premium model with the debut artwork, as opposed to the decontented Pro model with the LZ III artwork

I still have to decide whether I’m going to buy after Xmas, but with each day I lean more toward a “yes” answer. Good luck with your decision.

  5. I’m close to pulling the trigger on one of these. I spoke to the western Canada distributor today for about 30 minutes, and now I’m just mulling things over to ensure that I’m not just getting caught up in the moment.

The 500 Limited Edition (LE) machines are gone and accounted for (Icarus model). They are exactly the same as the Premium model, but with different artwork, and are numbered / autographed.

The Led Zeppelin III model is the Pro model, and it is entry level. It lacks many of the features of the Premium and Limited Edition models.

The Premium model is the one I’m looking at. It’s the same as the LE model of 500 units, apart from the art. The Premium model has multiple added features over the Pro model, and has the debut album artwork as its theme.

Anyway, I’m on a cooling off period until after Xmas, and will either buy, or not, at that time. These machines will be produced as long as there is demand, which is estimated to be 2 years.

I’ve got the LZ Converse sneakers, so I might as well get a pinball machine to keep them company. I kinda hope that I talk myself out of this idea, but then again, you only live once. 😉

Thanks for this glimpse into your experience.  Were you in Canada at the time you met all three?

    ADk-Zeppy

Yes, I met the three of them in Vancouver when they were touring the Walking into Clarksdale album. It seems like yesterday, although many years have passed since then.

  7. Nice story. I met him too (and Robert Plant, and Michael Lee). I spent a fair bit of time with Jimmy, and we had a nice conversation about a number of topics, including his Yardbirds days and concert locations. He was remarkably kind, humble, and pleasant, and was genuinely interested in asking me questions as well. He definitely was not a self centered person from what I could tell, and I cannot say enough good things about him, and the lasting impression he made on me. People rag on Jimmy about various things, and some of it is well deserved, but I can say without any doubt that he is a gentleman if you are respectful to him. Thanks for sharing your story.

  8. I believe, and have said it before, that the 50th Anniversary has come and gone in any meaningful way. The fact that Record Store Day came and went on Saturday, without a contribution from Zeppelin, really belies a significant missed opportunity, especially considering that Page is such a vinyl enthusiast. Had anything been in the pipeline, then RSD would have been a perfect vehicle to prime the fan base and keep the enthusiasm alive. I mean, we still might see a 50th Anniversary Beanie Baby or perhaps a Zeppelin Starship LEGO model, but other than that, I firmly believe that the anniversary is done in any meaningful way, and Zeppelin, unfortunately, screwed it up beyond all reason given the initial statements by Page.

  9. One comment I would make for those thinking of buying, is that the promo images of the shoes that have been released by VANS, and which are all over the net, show the 4 symbols strongly debossed on the side trim of the shoe sole. However, in actual fact, the shoes have crummy little decal transfers applied, which you can barely see and which will rub off in no time. Cheapo.

  10. Got my VANS Sk8 HI shoes today. I was at work and my wife managed to order her size on line and bought both pairs. My size was sold out. She drove to the mall, went into a store, and they had them in a shipping box in the back. None had been put out or displayed yet. She bought my pair and they were waiting for me when I got home, which was a pleasant surprise.

Pretty nice shoes, and nice to have, but I have to admit that the Black Sabbath Converse shoes I bought 5 years ago were much better in terms of their overall execution. Anyway, nice way to start the weekend with some geek quotient.

The wife was told that all authorized retailers were allowed to order 1 pair of each size only, and nothing more. She got my 10.5s and that’s it for that size at that store. Fleabay is already flooded of course.

  11. Sneakers are not what I was hoping for or expecting, but I’ll buy them anyway. They look nice and I bought 4 pairs of the Black Sabbath Converse runners several years ago, and I enjoy having them. The VANS have nice detail work including on the bottom sole trim.

I doubt they will as I have seen other rock movies at this theatre, and they just use the house system. Nonetheless, it’ll be a hoot. I swear that I saw TSRTS and the Jimi Hendrix double bill at least 30 times as a teenager, as it made the rounds from Indy theatre to Indy theatre. It drove my parents bonkers, but at least they knew where I was and what I was doing.

  13. For those in the Pacific North West, and Vancouver in particular, The Song Remains the Same is playing at The Rio Theatre in Vancouver on July 21 at 8:00PM. Mrs TDL and I have pre-purchased our tickets, and this will be a blast from our past, having seen the movie in the theatre many times in the 1980’s. The Rio is a great privately owned theatre and could use the support to fight being bulldozed and replaced by commercial interests. Hope to see some of you there. Tickets are available on line.

Anyone cool enough to own a Japanese import of WIC on vinyl? I'm looking for one because of Whiskey from the glass. Sure it's easy to find it on cd, but where's the sport in that? I'm pretty sure I'm correct in assuming that it is on the vinyl and not just the cd right?

Sorry my friend. Pretty sure it doesn't exist on vinyl. I have UK vinyl copies and US vinyl copies of the album, but I've never seen a Japanese copy with "Whiskey...". The U.K. Mercury vinyl issue is way better than the U.S. Atlantic vinyl pressing. If you want a neat little vinyl collectible, buy the U.K. 45 RPM pressing on Mercury of "The Window". It's an awesome tune and a beautiful little accoutrement to the Walking Into Clarksdale album. I still give that album a 9/10. I love it.

...if Jimmy says Led Zeppelin were at their peak in '72, we are we to dispute that?

Jimmy says a lot of things that aren't based in fact or truth, although the point is taken. The difference between 1972 and 1973 is days, weeks, or months. They are generally the same thing.

Coverdale was in a band whose name was a sad and awful pseudonym for a caucasian penis. They also had an album called 'Slide It In'.

Coverdale is not fit to lick the shit off Plant's boots in any way. Never will. Ever.

But Coverdale is still very respectful to Jimmy, and he managed to inspire him like no other has managed to do since the Zep days. All that said, yah, he's still a tosser.
