  1. We americans made them. And we will make them a ton more money if they tour again. That is why I'm a bit disappointed that they did the reunion in London. But maybe they figured they couldn't please all americans as picking a city would have been tough. If they pick NY, they piss off everyone on the west coast. If they pick LA the same. The geographics of the United States must have played a role. But I know they do appreciate this country and spend much time here. If they play again, Im certain it will be on this side of the pond first.

I agree. I think Jimmy and the band does too. No mystery why the 2003 live CD was named "How the West was Won".

Just like everything else popular here in the states LZ is now part of the US culture and the band knows it. Now why they picked London for the last concert? Perhaps due to the fact that the other major reunions (including the live aid mess with PC on drums) were all played stateside.

  2. Hey guys I'm new here and this is my first post, so I hope this hasn't already been posted. I looked around a bit but I didn't find much cause Im not familiar with the forum yet. Anyway, I just wanted to post this link to a tournament for the greatest album of all time. I know a lot of people don't care about these things, but for those of you who do there are eight albums left and Zep has two in it. Houses of the Holy and IV. They're close to getting relegated which would be an absolute shame so you if you like to see Zep win these kinds of things go vote! haha Here is the link:

    See ya around the forum.

Aces are you into Camaro's? LZ and a cool '70's Camaro brings back great memories for me. My favorite is the 70COPO

  3. I think it's done on total sales of albums and singles. All the artists in the first group sold loads of singles where as LZ didn't.

I think only The Beatles have sold more albums than LZ.

Agreed. Zep was all about the entire album as a work.

The list could change depending on how you use the sales data. Further I think history is still writing the potential sales story of LZ, (London and beyond perhaps) whereas the Beatles are finished with the exception of the obvious legacy catalog.

A better measure of how this could pan out is who is out selling who today and in what numbers? I know the Beatles Remastered #1 hits did very well for a time.

  4. Just the other night we watched TSRTS in BR and then watched Queen Live in Montreal. By Comparison Queen looked slow and like an opening act for a group with the Talent of Zeppelin. There is no comparison for Zep. They simply set the standard that all will be compared to now and in the future.

  5. Led Zeppelin has global appeal like no other music act in recent history. Participation by Led Zeppelin in an event like this would be devisive for the fan base.

Currently there are elements on both sides of the world political dynamic (both in the Middle East and the West) where multiple conflicts are currently active and peace without victory is viewed as someone loosing a war. The current peace movement business model seems to be to scrape together some groups desperate for continued stage relivence in talks about a potential concert and while they are at it talk about a bunch more groups (to create even more media buzz and hype) and then use all of them for some kind of political activity or self promotion or fund raising event.

Like a single rock concert is going to bring world peace?? Zeppelin should have Lawyers crawling up someone's ass already for even using Zeppelin's name in conjunction with even talk of such an event.

  6. Yes you are right. Knebworth was in 1979. Last big concert (with John on the drums) was in Berlin in July 1980. I guess there is no discussion pending on the original question asked about additional footage that could be done for a HD/Blu Ray release .... Oh well... On to a different thread.

  7. Let me clairify. For example: I doubt that the first cut on the Led Zeppelin DVD (Immigrant Song) would be a candidate for HD DVD or Blu Ray any time soon source material is what it is.

I agree 35MM is fine for conversion. The preservation of the original master film stocks, has age and storage problems which when viewed appears as lines, banding and detail distortion when viewed on standard DVD's. It is really visable on red or blue light footage.

The quality and preservation and current quality of the original 35MM source material is the issue.

With that said -IMO... footage filmed at Earls Court 1975 comes to mind as a potential candidate for a future Blu ray or HD DVD release. B)

  8. I just got SRS on Blu Ray and I am playing it to death! Soundtrack is excellent and the video is OK for what it was filmed on. Question: do you think there is any additional video that can be released from the pre 1980 period that is good enough for Hi Def conversion?.

A couple of songs from the 1980 Knebworth show perhaps?? Comments?
