rustle
Does anyone know anything about a John Williams, apparently a Welsh singer/songwriter who Jimmy played with in the 60s. Someone has got on ebay what they say is a demo acetate signed by Jimmy (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120548010542&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT). The singer is John Williams. Who is this guy? Is he the Maureeny Wishful bloke?
swandown
Yes, it's the same John Williams from the Maureeny Wishfull album. Jimmy had formed a partnership with Williams in 1965 -- Williams would write songs for Jimmy's publishing company, and Jimmy would use his connections to get the songs recorded by other artists. "Little Nightingale" was subsequently recorded by The Mindbenders and The 'N Betweens. There's no guarantee that Page actually played on this demo -- just my opinion but the guitar parts sound more like Big Jim Sullivan's style. swandown
Wow, I can't believe this thing sold for £530. He was trying to sell it for £100 last year and there were no takers.
