These pics were taken on the grand opening night of Barnes & Noble in Jacksonville, NC...
In front of my house
My husband and my stedaughters Lindsay and Desiree. I think people thought that Lindsay was his girlfriend or something, he said women were giving him dirty looks like he was a dirty old man
The ribbon cutting....I think you can prooooobably spot me in the picture

Yay Kyna!!!
I love Barnes and Noble. I've thought about applying there because I DO need a change of scenery. LOL
The issue? I can't walk into that place and our with just one book. I can leave with NO books, but not just one. I end up leaving with a freakin' pile. LOL
Actually it's weird, I was always that way too...until I started working at Chapters I spent so much time at work, that I didn't really feel like being in the bookstore for fun Also, at that time I was supporting myself completely and didn't have money on my paycheck to spare for books...
This time it'll be different though And I think I'm going to really enjoy it Until Christmas comes around that is

That's wonderful; congratulations!! I love B&N.
Thank you, and also Black Dawg and Hotplant!
I'm very excited! (but I can't vote for Obama, I'm not a citizen )

I am very happy tonight, because I finally got a JOB!! Man, it was hard to get a job here in the area I'm in...
I'm going to be a supervisor at the new Barnes & Noble store in town, and it's so similar to the place I worked at in Canada, that I'm not as scared about my first day as I would be otherwise I start Monday...I have full-time hours, with BENEFITS...yay health insurance!!!

Here's an email my Canadian friend sent me:
Entertaining Mandy....although I've not been murdered nor ever had my car stolen in Edmonton (I think they must be talking about the 'North' end).... And minimum wage is definitely not $15.50/hr... I wish....if it was, I wouldn't have left!
But the stuff about the Whitemud Freeway, THAT might be a little true

I took Rorer skating today in Wilmington, NC...some Canadian guy from Ontario opened a skating rink there about 3 years ago Rorer hadn't been skating in over 30 years....he kept telling me that I was going to make him break his ankle I told him it was like riding a bike...
30 minutes into the skate, it had all come back to him....he was whipping around the ice, spraying snow when he stopped, and doing crossovers...I was so proud and impressed (it was pretty sexy ) We skated for 2 and a half hours....here are some pictures!!
I never thought I'd see him strapping on skates...not bad for a brand new 46 year old
Rorer in the sin bin....
I haven't seen so many Canadian flags in NC since I've been here
We had the most awesome day, it was our early Valentine's Day special outing

Hunting for shark's teeth with my husband. Getting an amazing BBQ sandwich from the Bogue House. Tramping through the Emerald Isle Woods park.

What, in general? Rorer's been off work for awhile, and I've been spending a lot of time with him...we've been going exploring There are a lot of nature trails around here, and there are a whole bunch he hasn't been to even though he's lived in this area for 25 years...we decided to check some of them out

I was actually wondering where you've been....did you get a job?
Nice to know someone misses me
No, still no job I never got a call back from the library...it's been over a week now...guess I didn't get it
It's getting worrisome though...

The fact that it turned out to be seventy-five degrees today, and I get to be smug because in back in Edmonton, with the windchill it's -45
-
Lookin' good ZosoDragon, though I curse you and that warm weather of yours!
Yeah, that was December 12 My husband is very smug about it, but I try not to be I'm still getting used to not having snow for 7 months of the year
And thanks Mandy and kristina

Yeah,ZD is still a bit sore over that loss.
I think I'm over it, dear.
I'm glad to have made the sacrifice of a loss. Because if we would have won in game 7 instead of you, you wouldn't have spoken to me for a week.
Rorer takes sports seriously, my friends...
