Possibly. One thing is for certain, and that is Led Zeppelin never stayed at the Plaza Hotel again.

I'm a bit late reading this thread, but just wanted to say I think Steve meant to type that Zep never stayed at the *Drake Hotel* again, and he accidentally typed The Plaza Hotel in the response.

Sam noted that they stayed at the Plaza in '75, '76 TSRTS premiere and '77.

(For anyone not too familiar with Manhattan, The Drake was located at Park and 56th, torn down in 2007. The Plaza still remains at 5th Avenue and 59th,  aka Central Park South.)

This thread is great reading, really enjoy reading the variety of topics on it.

  2. Also, which of these sets of pics shows the 12th February 1975? (The timeline on this site shows them all for that date, but the outfits are different. (Or was there a costume change during the show? Did they ever do that?)

    Scylla,

The 4 pictures above are the photos that feature the clothing that was worn on 12th February 1975.

(So only the last 4 pics from your original post on 6th May 2014).

  3. Definitely not Steve Perry! The front row (L to R) is Paul Rodgers, Simon Kirke, *Mick Ralphs* and Phil Lynott.

Bad Company's Boz Burrell is back row far left, then Scott Gorham, Eric Clapton and Robert.

Maybe someone can fill in the next 3.

The tallest, in the very back, is John Illsley of Dire Straits, then Mark Knopfler in the striped sweater, and his brother David.

It was taken at a launch for the benefit album, The Summit.

All proceeds from the 1979 lp were donated to "The Year of the Child", a charity designated to help sick and disabled children.

It featured Led Zep's Candy Store Rock and Bad Company's Rock & Roll Fantasy in addition to a song each from ELO, Wings, Gerry Rafferty, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Cliff Richard, Supertramp, Thin Lizzy, YES and Pink Floyd.

  4. See same shirt

    July 18, 1985

I don't think the Hawaiin shirt in this video (from the July 85 visit to Les Paul's house) is the same shirt as the 3 photos the girl posted on Twitter.

Jimmy wore a variety of these shirts that often appear similar but if you look at the shirt placket, the Twitter pics have more of a black background (subtler flower) on the placket than the bolder floral pattern seen on the placket in above video- i think.

(You can see a still photo with same bolder patterned shirt as on video here on Steve's LZ Photo Mysteries pg 52)

On Twitter, she said her Dad took these 3 photos when he hung out "with Zepp" at a hotel in New Orleans.

The way the 3 pictures were on Twitter (laying on ceramic tile) we can only see his arm in the bottom photo.

She also mentioned her father will be playing in a LZ tribute band at Napper Tandys.

  5. Coverdale/Page drummer Denny Carmassi was asked 10 Questions by John Wardlaw in a brief interview. Below is the last question, and the link to read the others if you like.

JW. Is there any project or projects you have worked on that you wish more people knew about?

DC. I guess it would have to be the Coverdale Page project. It was such a fun record to make with such a great group players. I guess some people know about it though, I have a platinum record hanging up on my wall. It's a shame that band never got to tour the United States, only a tour of Japan. We did some sessions in Miami that someday may see the light of day.

  6. I have several offstage shots of Jimmy in San Francisco during the ARMS tour (Nov 30 thru Dec 83) wearing these exact same clothes.

I'm hoping someone out there can put this one to rest before I start googling San Francisco airport, among others, to match the image against the hotels behind him.

This shot was taken in Los Angeles on the south side of LAX, at AiResearch.
