  1. It's a shame that many people forget, or aren't even aware of the fact, that ancient peoples celebrated this time of the year long before Christians hijacked it for their festive season and took it over.

And don't forget Spinal Tap! They did their part, too.

    Stonehenge, where the demons dwell

Where the banshees live and they do live well

    Stonehenge

Where a man is a man and the children dance to

    the pipes of pan

    Stonehenge

Tis a magic place where the moon doth rise

    With a dragon's face

    Stonehenge

    Where the virgins lie

And the prayer of devils fill the midnight sky

And you my love, won't you take my hand

We'll go back in time to that mystic land

Where the dew drops cry and the cats meow

    I will take you there

    I will show you how

  2. saw the firm at assembly hall in champaign, ill in early 1986... spectacular to see jimmy from fourth row center

anybody have any info or reviews?

googled and also checked local newspaper archives to no avail. :(

maybe i just dreamed the whole thing...

Not for that show, but I saw them in Maryland at the Capital Centre in 1985, and the only memory I recall is Jimmy facing his amps all night. It was obvious he didn't want to be a part of the show. (come to think of it, around that same time, Ritchie Blackmore did the same thing on the same side of the stage with the Deep Purple reunion! spooky... )

  3. Notice in the copy of Dragon Rouge you've got the "Zoso" insignis on page 91. Now if you add 9+1, that makes 10, and wasn't that the date of the reunion, December 10th? Coincidence, or what? Jimmy is more in control than we realize. Much more in control...much much more... or maybe his pinky is really ruling the world.

  4. By stealing my brother's copy of Led Zeppelin II; it must have been around 1973 b/c I also stole Dark Side of the Moon at the same time. I clearly remember looking at the cover of II and thinking, "they're ugly! all except him." Him being John Paul Jones. Looks aside, once I heard Whole Lotta Love, I threw all of my David Cassidy 45s in the bin and instantly converted to a LedHead.

    :D

  5. If these girls have no respect for themselves why should you expect the band to have respect for them? You realise that these people were hangers on looking for benefits from being near rock stars - hardly a pure and worthy existence.

Have a listen to the Stones 'Under My Thumb' and get back to me about this being the most sexist song.

Calm down. How do you know Maid was about a groupie? It could have been about a girlfriend, a next door neighbor or a landlord for all you know.

Under My Thumb ties in first place with Maid. Thumb disturbs me, too.

  6. That has GOT to be one of THE most sexist songs ever written in the HIStory of rock n roll. If Jimmy wrote it about someone he didn't like, God help them. He couldn't have been more insulting with this number.

(ps-that's sexIST, not sexy- as Nigel Tufnel would say, "a little twist"...)

  7. My husband and I just recently decided that with regard to our own rock memorabilia - we'll keep it and enjoy it for the rest of our lives. When we're gone, our kids can decide what to do with it.

That's scary to think of what kids will do with our stuff, isn't it? I trained mine early. My 8 year old daughter is into Zeppelin, and she thinks it's cool she has morning 'bed head' just like Jimmy's early uncombed hair days. (they're twins I swear!)

Hopefully she and her brother will keep our things out of respect for their love of Zep. If not, they know I'll come back to haunt them no matter where I end up... or down...

    :D

  8. I had 90% my collection stolen in the early 80's. Along with most of the other items in our house. A great series of black and white photos and the negatives that a friend of mine took from the 73 Vancouver show were part of the haul. Professional quality and some of the best shots I've ever seen of the band. I have not seen them surface anywhere which is really a bummer because it probably means they were just thrown away. Most of what's left of my collection is pretty average stuff that was stored at another location at the time of the robbery

That sucks. I hope they catch they guy who stole your stuff AND Jimmy's Black Beauty. I still check ebay every now and then for his guitar to show up, mysteriously. Your collection might be on there, too. Hey- you're from Vancouver, Jimmy's guitar was stolen in Canada... could be the same guy. Check ebay.

  9. In my music room with three walls dedicated to Led Zeppelin memorabilia, my shrine includes several original '70s magazines with Zep interviews, (Rolling Stone, Creem, etc); original mint condition concert tickets- '75, '80; I have posters, books, boots, concert photos, original record label promo photos; LPs and 45s with first release catalog numbers; authentic autographed photos (JP, RP, JPJ); original tour programs ('75, '77, '007 & I hope to aquire a 1969 hardback soon); an O2 collection that's growing; my prized posession- the Immigrant Song 45 with Jimmy's "do what thou wilt" scribbled on the matrix; and of course, no Zeppelin music room would be complete without a maple flame top cherry sunburst Les Paul guitar.
