A well established Hendrix played Woodstock in 1969, you're probably thinking of Jimi's Monterey Pop festival appearance a few years prior.
The Monkees/Hendrix pairing was a mistake no doubt.
That's it. I always mix the two festivals up. Considering both of them are a good 40 years older than I am...
I'm just trying to imagine the shock experienced by people showing up for the Monkees and being killed by Hendrix first thing

SteveAJones, forgive if you've said it before, but where the hell do you find all this stuff?
and here's a question that seems to be on-topic:
Has Jimmy Page ever been quoted or asked about his flamboyant (amazing) wardrobe? I'm curious to know more about that. Few, if any, other artists can look that part he did.

That same year Jimi Hendrix open for The Monkees.
that was before Hendrix became a superstar after woodstock

I saw The Who in 1967, opening for Hermans Hermits.
The last time I saw the Who was when they first toured after John died. It seemed then as if most people there were only familiar with the songs that are played on classic rock radio.
why in hell were the who OPENING for herman's hermits??!?! that ain't right,.

Of course they fight, but Roger always gets his way considering he's three times stronger than the other(s).
Some other great fueds:
Roger Waters vs. Rick Wright and David Gilmour
Axl Rose vs. Everybody and His Sister
Van Halen vs David Lee Roth
Mick Jagger vs. Keith Richards Check that here
Ginger Baker vs. Jack Bruce
Scott Weiland vs. Anybody He's Been in a Band With

I saw Rush in Atlanta. It was an amazing show. Funny, too.
-
Yeah, Humble Pie is him at his best. A radio station in atlanta called The River (97.1) overplays so many songs like that, and i got sick of frampton comes alive. I'm really sick of the tube synth thing, and i think he uses that so much it distracts from his talent as a rock guitarist.

in Atlanta we now have an amazing station known as Rock 100.5
we have other stations that play Led Zepp, but not as much, and they always play the same freakin' songs...
Rock 100.5 has played:
-When The Levee Breaks
-Stairway to Heaven
-Whole Lotta Love
-All My Love
-D'yer Mak'er
-Good Times Bad Times
-Ramble On
-Black Dog
-Rock n Roll
-others i think, but im not sure.
they are the only station i've ever heard play Levee Breaks
Also, I have heard The Max Wienberg 7 (Conan Obrien) play Dancing Days, and Misty Mountain Hop, after which Conan would say "get the led out" before continuing the show.

Here's some trivia for you
He played that set without a plectrum
I'll bet ya 20$ he got plectrum-less playing from Jeff Beck, who rarely uses a pick. They were long-time buddies.

Yes, i love Joe Walsh's use of it. Thanks, I always wondered how that worked.
Frankly, i'm really tired of hearing it on Do You Fell Like We Do. I love the end solo on it, but the middle section is so boring and repetetive after about a minute.
