I guess she's most well known for being a back up vocalist for Sufjan Stevens. I've never been much of a fan of Sufjan, so I was kind of expecting this to be crap too. But no. This is actually really fucking cool. My biggest problem with Sufjan has always been his god awful arrangements that are pure cheese. So imagine my surprise while listening to Actor, because St. Vincent's arrangements are so spot on here. Sufjan could definitely learn a thing or two from this chick. Really well-crafted, gorgeous songs. And then when I found out she was in Glenn Branca's 100 Guitar Orchestra, her coolness suddenly made a lot more sense. Anyone else into this?
