The Pagemeister
The Cure Will Whet Album Appetites By Releasing A Single A Month If a North American tour isn't building enough anticipation for a new Cure album, perhaps releasing a new single every month until it comes out will do the trick. The veteran British band will release four A- and B-side singles — one on the 13th of each month, starting in 11 days — until their still-untitled 13th studio album (and first since 2004's self-titled effort) is released by Suretone/Geffen on Sept. 13. Physical and digital singles will be available through physical and digital retail outlets. The first single, "The Only One," will be backed with "NY Trip." "The Only One" can be heard on The Cure's website. June's single will be "Freakshow," with "All Kinds Of Stuff" as its B-side. Both tracks were produced by Cure singer/guitarist Robert Smith and Keith Uddin (Bjork, Nick Cave). The July and August singles will be announced shortly. Smith, bassist Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper and guitarist Porl Thompson's tour with openers 65daysofstatic begins on May 9 in Washington, D.C.
