  1. Hello Beresford..could you confirm it was the College in Gorway Road, Walsall that you were talking about..cheers.
  2. The article about Listen having stuff nicked from them is dated 17th Feb 1966 which indicates they were using the name a couple of weeks before 4th March but as already suggested perhaps TTT had a few pre booked dates to fulfill..Mr Plant needs to be asked methinks
  3. These might help- Gig is Saturday 23rd October 1965 so it might not be Mr Plant. Gig is Saturday 6th February 1966..I assume Mr Plant is earning his keep..but then.. The date on top of the article suggests that either they have become Listen within 2 weeks of the Blue Flame gig or that the Blue Flame gig was contracted as the Teens and they were already calling themselves Listen. At least it narrows down the date of Listens debut slightly.
  4. This was the only time I found Listen listed during March/October so it could have been the original group without Robert or Robert fulfilling a long time commitment ..bit of a strange one really..just imagine the questions Mr Plant could be asked about this stuff :-)
  5. Taken from the pages of the Wolverhampton Express and Star between March + October 1967..hope they make interesting reading..a few discussion points. Thursday 9th March 1967 Monday 22nd May 1967 Thursday 29th June 1967 Thursday 13th July 1967 Thursday 13h July 1967 Thursday 3rd August 1967 Thursday 10th August 1967 Monday 4th August 1967 Friday 1st September 1967 Thursday 14th September 1967 Friday 6th October 1967 Thursday 26 October 1967
  6. Just a couple of things to add- From the Express and Star dated Thurs 25th August 1966- and another 1966 gig-
  7. Thanks for that..after the day I've had it's good to have a kind word..don't get involved in record company politics
  8. Probably just a case of trawling through the entertainments page from Jan 1st 1966 through to March..best of luck. An Apology In a recent posting I said I had a BOJ clipping from June 1968..however on collecting the ad from Tamworth archives I was dismayed to find the gig was actually from January 1968..oops...sorry..hope the Plant time line isn't put too much out of sync..here it is anyway- Sorry.
  9. Just found this..Thursday 5th March 1966..I had it for the Jim Lea piece and then noticed the Listen article.
  10. No joy with the BOJ ad from Tamworth yet ..but..hopefullly this lot may be of interest.- Express and Star dated Thurs 10 March 1966..anybody got a copy of the poster Dated Friday 18th March 1966..I've never come across a group called Stop!Look!Listen! so it might be a case of some clever advertising Tuesday 15th March 1966- Saturday 19th March 1966..more clever word play- Saturday April 9th 1966. Monday 25TH April 1966 Saturday 7th May 1966 Sunday 12th June 1966 Saturday 11th June 1966. The Guernsey dates would be a good find.
  11. I don't think it will..the only thing I have left off is the tag line "Scene 68"..remember the gig was a bread and butter appearance at a social club in the wilds of Staffordshire with a limited advertising budget.
  12. I got a little confused for a moment..gig was 9/7/68..then I realised you are a colonial..it should,of course,be 7/9/68
  13. The date is only a few weeks before the 1st LZ gig isn't it. Do you think the gig may have been booked as BOJ but played by Obstweedle or is my lack of knowledge showing?
  14. Copy of the original advert to follow but here's a date for anyone taking notes. Sunday July 28th 1968 Foseco Sports + Social Club. Tamworth. Robert Plant and The Band of Joy. From the Tamworth Herald. Copies of the original ad have to be ordered from Tamworth Local Studies..it's a strange system..I have a couple of 'Nbetweens ads on order from a few weeks ago..the reason they are not ready?.."Jackie has been off".amazing!
  15. Went to Birmingham archives today and after looking for my bits and pieces I started wading through the Birmingham Evening Mail starting at January 1966..fruitless until I found this. From BEM dated Saturday 16th April 1966- All the info you need for a good night including 'bus info.
  16. Midland Beat appeared monthly at this time so the Listen "news" was probably old hat by then.
  17. You've twisted my arm Steve ..I'll put it in my things to do book.
  18. Re .Shenstone Teacher Training College 1968. I thought I might save a bit of petrol money by emailing Worcester Archives to see if they would check The Bromsgrove Messenger for any Obstweedle gigs during the relevant period. This is the reply- Thank you for your enquiry regarding Obstweedle and their possible appearance at Shenstone Training College in July 1968. The Bromsgrove Messenger was the only local newspaper during that period and would have covered college stories. However, I have searched the period from the end of June through to the first week of August and have not found any reference to Obstweedle. Not the best result..it just means that I will have to get over there at some point and check for myself..it's quite easy to miss stuff..unless of course someone on here lives in the area and has a hour to spare :-)
  19. Coventry library have copies of the local newspapers that would cover the Bonham/Plant Midlands adventures..Senators,Listen etc..it might be worth a look if you are ever at a loose end for a few hours..I'm assuming you're a local. I'm still wading through Wolvo and Brum archives at the moment but Cov is on my to do list
  20. I have a copy of the Dial LP complete with press release..it says the release date was February 1964.
  21. No article sorry..I've put up everything their is..it's from a page of news pictures of various Midlands groups. Has the Dial Lp been discussed before?
