  1. Paul on his own is a good musician and his solo career was quite interesting between 1970 and 1973.But other acts from the same era, which had a rather similar style were way better than him, such as Supertramp(very very very underrated band) or Elton John(during his collaboration with Bernie Taupin). So as far as British pop music in the 70's is concerned, some artists were really better, and IMO George Harrison and Lennon are included in this list.

  2. I've Been a Zepp Fan Since Day 1.

Then like 10 years ago I first heard the Beatles, they blew my mind.

My opinion, if it matters, is that Zepp is the DIRECT offspring of the Beatles.

The Beatles recorded "Helter Skelter" on the Day Zepp. started on LZ1.

They use similar recording ideas too.

They were also both the top rated band of their era.

Well, overall here's my top 10 bands

    10. Blue Oyster Cult

    9. Jimi Hendrix Experience

    8. The Rolling Stones

    7. Rush (gotta love 2112)

    6. Aerosmith

    5. The Beach Boys (Come on guys! Pet sounds is incredible!)

    4. Wings

    3. Queen

    2. Led Zeppelin

    1. The Beatles.

Notice that almost all the bands on the list came AFTER the Beatles.

That Just shows the revolution in music the Beatles caused.

I totally agree with your top 3, I think those three(Led Zep, Queen, and Beatles) are the best bands in History.

  3. Thanks for that. Google will be my friend.

They've had some awesome presenters/showgirls on Italian TV, haven't they? Valeria Marini...Alba Parietti...we just don't get that kind of eye candy in England.

Neither do we in France, but I think these lovely creatures only exist in Italy...

  4. Oh my lordy....who is this delightful creature?

Caterina Balivo, Italian presenter on the Italian tv (Rai Due). When I saw her on tv, a few years ago I was blown away!

Silvio chose them well, he had at least this quality...

You can have a look at page 135 of this topic, if you're interested

  5. Please direct me to the post where I demanded an explanation.

If someone likes Lady Gaga more than Mozart their opinion is just as valid as someone who feels the opposite way about their music. When expressing an opinion there is no right or wrong.

:) No, don't chicken out, I want to know YOUR opinion

  6. Jahfin, let's play a game:here is my question:

Who is better:Mozart or Lady Gaga?

It's like a multiple choice test actually:

A-You answer Mozart, and therefore you contradict everything you have said until now

B-You answer Lady Gaga (no comment)

C- You don't answer(it means you can't decide between Mozart and Lady Gaga...)

D- You say they are both different, and you can't compare them( in other words you say that Lady Gaga can be considered to be as talented as Mozart, "it's just a matter of opinion")

    Good luck!

  7. "Isn't not valid"? All I'm doing is expressing an opinion about how I feel about the ranking of art, in this case, music. I feel it's futile to do so. I'm not espousing a "theory", just an opinion.

If I say that Mozart is better than Lady Gaga(and I take this example on purpose), you can't answer:"Well, it's your opinion"

  8. Well by my math the Stones were banging away at pop music trends long before Zeppelin or Queen ever formed as working bands. They paved the road don't you think? Other bands did too, but as this is a Stones thread we'll keep the focus on the Rolling Stones here.

The Stones were not a pop band, moreover Led Zep and Queen could have existed even if the Stones hadn't.

  9. Those are your words, not mine. I just don't see the point in assigning a meaningless number to something that is art.

Yes, these are my words, but they show that your theory, according to which everything is a matter of opinion, and that it's impossible to say objectively if an artist is better than another, is a theory which isn not valid.

  10. You are still applying a "rating" to their works. It is also your opinion that "there are not enough great tunes in their catalouge to hold them in that high of a place". I listen to music for the enjoyment it brings me, not to try to figure out who is better than who, which is also only a matter of opinion.

It means that, according to you, Mozart isn't better than Lady Gaga, and that it' just a matter of opinion..........

    Strange way of thinking....

  11. The Stones are a great band, but they were not creative enough, they didn't invent anything, unlike The Beatles, Queen or Led Zeppelin.

According to me the Stones didn't take enough risks.

I think Led Zep and Queen are the only two bands, whose unknown songs are as good as the most famous ones, that's why they are my favourite bands.

  12. The most innovative of all American bands, and according to me the best of them, and one of the best bands in history. If Jim Morrison hadn't died, they could have gone much further, I think.

Thanks to The End, Apocalypse Now became more than a masterpiece, it became THE movie
