On this day in 1969, Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull shared the stage at the Philadelphia Spectrum. The members of Led Zeppelin had to be escorted off the stage by armed guards after their set, because the audience was going absolutely berserk.

On this day in 1969, Led Zeppelin kicked off the weekend with an appearance alongside Jethro Tull, Buddy Guy and Johnny Winter at the Laurel Pop Festival at a race track in Maryland. Washington Post reporter Carl Bernstein, who later helped to crack the Watergate story, was on hand and said "Led Zeppelin were mildly interesting, if not musically original."
