Was just watching a show about how the Moon was formed on VICE channel, and there was a scene where they showed a fictitious city and on a billboard was Zeppelins Mothership artwork !!

To me this argument is stupid, mainly because Zep could play circles around the Stones musically, I mean the Stones aren’t even in the conversation talent wise compared to Zep.

Jonesy is more talented than the Stones all put together
Mick Taylor was a good guitar player, nice pure player and cleaner than Pagey, but that’s where he ends just a player
Jagger vs Plant is a toss up Mick is a hell of a performer can’t deny that !

A year or so ago Plant played some shows in Iceland, and his band did a short version of Immigrant Song, tuned WAYYYY down, and Robert still sounded really weak trying to hit those notes. It was then I really understood his decision not to tour w Zep again, his voice has dropped so low he can’t even come close anymore to Zep catalog.

I saw Jimmy in Syracuse 88 and he was just on fire and played really really well. We were all surprised, truthfully our expectations were seriously low after the Atlantic 40th debacle.

I’ve always thought Jimmy played decently, just hampered by terrible sound.
Phil Collins was a joke, though.
If Jimmy had played this well at Atlantic 40th, things could’ve been very different vis a vis Zeppelin reunions -
Telecasters are everywhere on every single Zep album, more than people realize.
telecasters are super versatile, much more so than Les Pauls, especially for rhythm tracks.
Jimmy will never clarify what’s what, but I think everyone would be surprised at the amount of Telecaster usage, even on Presence.

No offense to Pseudonym but I thought that remaster made it sound artificial and squeezed too much
the 23rd is a nice Aud recording for sure, but the 24th is SUCH a better show, and my dream is that a SB will surface some day

Just imagine what Robert had to do to even be heard onstage, fighting Bonzo the loudest drummer of all time, Marshall stacks, all with basically non existent or primitive monitor systems. You can only scream so much before your vocal chords will throw in the towel.
Roberts early Zep era performances are truly Super Human, there’s no way it could last. He left his voice on the stage for sure.

In 73 Jimmy just used the natural drive of his Marshall Amps, no overdrive pedals or anything like that. His Echoplex also added a little drive.

Ok so he’s just playing a harmony over main riff
start on 14th fret of A string and go down
14-13-12-11
then jump to G string 12th fret and bend up for the little lick he does
then 9th fret A string to 7th fret
