  1. I would definitely have dated this before 1981. His hair was way shorter by Dec 1981 and his appearance was far less healthy.

Also - I don't think it has ever been confirmed that the guy on the Knebworth pic is Jimmy's Dad - I recall seeing strong argument that it wasn't. I don't bet either way :)

Knebby, would it not be the UK because I couldn't see a David Essex film being a big release in the US? (I saw it, it was unbearably corny:D )

  2. Steve, this may be off topic for the photo forum, but talking about Jimmy in Brazil, brought a couple of things to mind. Apologies if you are already aware of these.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2003/jan/26/brazil.observerescapesection - Howard Marks talks about meeting Jimmy in Brazil.

http://www.abctrust.org.uk/documents/Annual_Review.pdf The Copacabana Palace Hotel is mentioned in the ABC Trust's Annual Review as a supporting organisation.

Seeking an accurate translation and confirmation of the name and date of the publication it originally appeared in.

    Steve,

Can't help you with an accurate translation - I always use Google Translate, as I am sure you do too. I think there is a Brazil based member on here Brspled (?) who you could contact directly. With regard to the photo, I looked for information about Jim Capaldi and his widow, Aninha Capaldi and have copied a Wikipedia entry here from which you might be able to deduce the date. The taller girl in the photo is Scarlet, so the other girl will be the Capaldis' child. It all depends on how old you think the kid looks - 3 or 4?

"...He married Brazilian-born Aninha in 1975 and in 1976 toured with his band Space Cadets before moving to Brazil in 1977. His daughters Tabitha and Tallulah were born in 1977 and 1979, respectively. The Capaldis lived in the Bahia region of Brazil until the beginning of 1980 and while there he became heavily involved with environmental issues. The track "Favella Music" on his 1981 album Let The Thunder Cry arose from his love of Brazil and he worked with several Brazilian composers." Source: Wikipedia

Aninha Capaldi is on a social website where you could send her a carefully worded message asking if she could clarify details for your Zeppelin collection. Mrs Capaldi seems to still be friendly with Charlotte Martin.

    Good luck

  4. Even the Firm with another line up, this time PR could sing some zep and Free and Bad co numbers, which is what it lacked the first time round, plus Page is no lyricist, so PR could put some lyrics to JPs 'new music' B) and bingo a new Firm album is born.

There I've thought of it all, now just get on with it :D

Agree totally with you, Chimp. I've said several times before on this site that JP needs a lyricist - you only have to listen to the lyrics for 'Tangerine' to realise that lyrics aren't Jimmy's strong point. PR incorporated Free material when he was doing his stint with Queen. It would be great to hear Jimmy playing guitar on both Free and Bad Co numbers because IMO he is a far better guitarist than both bands' own axemen.

  5. Jimmy has to be aware and sanctions Ross's comments that are Zep related. I truly believe Ross wouldn't put anything on his site that Jimmy would be upset about. They are both probably having a huge laugh seeing the reaction on sites such as this.

Zooma, would your explain how you know that Jimmy sanctions Ross' comments that are Zep related. You seem to be very certain about your information.

  6. Quote below from hanger-on Ross Halfwit's diary dated 28 May where he takes a dig at both Jason Bonham and Robert Plant. What is RH's problem with Jason Bonham, a man who presumably has done him no harm? Perhaps Jason has declined to pick up the bill for Ross's meals at Nobu!

"Said hello to Joe after who told me Jason Bonham is now going to be the singer in the Led Zeppelin Experience, dressing up in women's blouses to scream about going to Valhalla. Only thing is Jason needs to lose three hundred pounds first, plus Robert Knight (or "Shite" as he's better known) is directing the visual production. Robert Shite (a man who walks around dressed as a member of Poison) claims to be the first photographer to shoot Led Zeppelin, which is rubbish, and even stranger he also claims he and Jimmy Page are friends, and I know that's not true. Let's hope Jason gets on the Bonamassa diet soon. The Led Zeppelin Experience... yuk."

  7. i think ross wants us all to talk about him. wacko.gif

    ok, i will.

you're a total jerk for saying that ross. grow up and learn to be appropriate ( just every now and then would be nice! ) john probably is turning in his grave to think that jimmy has a "friend" like you. sad.gif no wonder robert dislikes you! and hey ross, do you REALLY have to say jimmy PAGE and i went shopping, jimmy PAGE and i had lunch .. etc etc ? if he is such a mate, just call him jimmy.

    name dropper. angry.gif

Well said, Slave to Zep. If RH didn't make constant references to Jimmy, would any of us read his diary? I think not. By referring to Jimmy, Ross makes sure that everyone remembers/knows his (Ross', that is) name.

His reference to John Bonham turning in his grave is despicable and I only wish Mick Bonham were still around to put Ross right on that one. Bonzo would be proud that Jason has turned out to be a first class drummer.

The new photos of Jimmy and Ozzy are mediocre - anyone with a decent camera and lighting could have set those up. Ross is lucky that over the years he has established contacts in the industry which get him access to well known musicians.
