This year's Wimbledon is dropping seeds like Johnny Appleseed. No Nadal, no Sharapova, no Federer. And for the first time since 1992, no Yankee men thru to the third round.
Oh well...I'll still watch, especially on the 4th of July. Djokovic will probably get my support now. I don't know about the women...I miss my beloved Steffi Graf.
Bit of a weird tournament thus far and somewhat of a damp squib overall except for "crazy Wednesday" And while It was exciting to watch Stakhovsky beat Fed with *gasp* serve and volley on a grass court ultimately, Stakhovsky - to use a Jimmy Connors phrase - was a "spoiler" who you could of bet your house on him going in his next match (and so it was, to Meltzer 3 sets to 1)
If a Stakhovsky or a Rosol could make a run to the final, or at least win a few more matches, it would be more interesting and worthwhile - as it stands - these one off fluke performances just rob the tournament of the big names which most people are looking forward to watching in the later stages. Alas, this is sport.

I keep an interested eye on Aussie politics as it's so cutthroat and quite entertaining - some real characters. Rudd again proves that you can't trust a word they say "under no circumstances would I return to the Labor leadership" - yeah right - and he's back! didn't see that coming. Something creepy about Rudd, he has an avuncular, almost cuddly exterior yet you wouldn't be surprised to find he has bodies buried in the back yard. So yeah, erm, thanks for your crazy political merry-go-round.

Adios, Nadal! Andele, Federer!! Where my Fed-heads at...
More to the point; where is Nadal's head at right now? I can't believe after last year he's come back and gone down in straight sets in the first round. He looked injured, but how can you beat Djokovic a week before 9-7 in the fifth set and be injured? Doesn't make any sense.

Thank you for making the important distinction "the first male winner since Perry" - I wish the television commentators were as acurate. They always say, "the British have not had a champion since 1936" - Virginia Wade must feel quite invisible.
P.S. Why do you guys all put "Andy's" name in quotes?
P.S.S. I must respectfully disagree with you about Jim Courier. Have you ever heard him baiting sweet Tracy Austin during the U.S. Open coverage? The man isn't well in the head.
Thank you, I try to be accurate:p
"Andy" because the commentators always use his first name as if they are best mates. Which they may well be; but it just sounds unprofessional and biased.
No, I haven't heard him "baiting" Tracy Austin:p I've only heard him do the FO

I fail to see how that has got any bearing on whether he should post those videos or not. Maybe he isn't even aware of that earth shattering news? anyway, who cares.

Over here we're spared the barmy blatherings of Sue Barker.
Wonder how much rain we'll get this year? It'd be nice to have a rain-free fortnight.
McEnroe, Becker and Cash are also commentators on the beeb every Wimbledon. I like Mac (although he's not to everyone's taste) Becker is so so and Cash, while he seems like a really nice bloke, is pretty hopeless with his inane insights and rather nervous delivery. Which is probably why he gets relegated to the outside courts covering the less high profile games. I wish they would hire Jim Courier: he does the French Open and is really knowledgeable and quite funny.
The rain thing, I wouldn't count on it....supposed to be a heat wave this week (28c lol) so I'm sure It'll be pissing down next week just in time...

Well done "Andy" for his win at Queens. (I'll sure he'll be reading this, so) he has grown on me. I think the coverage of Wimbledon, in particular, gets spoiled by the overt jingoistic need to have the first male winner since Fred Bleedin' Perry and all the hype and pressure they heap on "Andy".
I used to want all British hopes to keep failing because of this, but maybe (although we'd never hear the last of it and the hype would be sickening) it would be better long term if "Andy" won it so Andrew Castle and Sue Barker could STFU and let me watch Wimbledon in peace; without them putting everything in context of how the "Brits are doing" for example: Nadal went out last year and they were positively wetting themselves with glee and plotting Andy's run to the final while he was still in the third round. "Andy" seems like a normal bloke from a fairly normal background; so I'd rather he won it than some posh kid whose father is a major.
Wimbledon countdown: T minus 8 days.

So, Facebook wants to know:
- where do I work- where did I go to high school- which city do I live in- where did I grow up- what is my relationship statuspretty intrusive!!Key word: wants to know. I hardly use it myself and they don't have any of my personal details. If people are willing enough to hand over all their details, and even allow a company to spy on their movements via GPS then more fool them - they can surely have no complaints.
Back in WW2 British propaganda posters used to say "Careless Talk Costs Lives" just today, I was watching this clip and it reminded me of that. I think people share too much these days...

God Rules from above and Satan Rules from below.
But wait isn't God is all powerful?scratch that, I don't care.Satan is a literary construct to enable monotheism to deflect all of the bad things that happen onto another imaginary being they made up, and God can carry on getting the credit for when an old lady and her dog are pulled out of the rubble of a natural disaster that four hundred other people lost their lives in. It's a miracle!
This video gives one an overview of the evolution of nasty old Satan in the bible.

Thanks for.....overseas Home and Away awareness ambassador Melissa George
"I don't need credibility from my country any more, I just need them all to be quiet. If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don't speak to me any more. I'd rather be having a croissant and an espresso in Paris or walking my French bulldog in New York City. I've never spoken out about it because I have to be the loyal good Aussie, who goes away and comes home. But I'm a really hard-working woman and people have to respect me for what I've done ... my next call will be to Home And Away to ask them to pay me because nobody does more promotion for that f***ing show than me."
I was smitten with her back in the day, and she's still gorgeous, although one gets the feeling she's become a bit of a snooty sort these days (not sure what gives me that idea) Apparently, she makes more money now from inventing a Velcro clasp for clothes than she does acting. Weird...
