  1. I found this on a very well-documented Badfinger fansite (but no other info for this date was provided). This would be a new date I think. Any idea if this actually happened?

Update: I just noticed this was already posted (p141)...I guess it's still a mystery...

I very much doubt it - the American tour finished on 31 August and they didn't hit the road again until October. Travelling to Germany for one (small) show would make no sense.

  2. Those details aren't in the film and my initial notes on the subject precede Mick Bonham's book by at least a decade. Enjoy the site!

Those 'details' are totally in the film, Mick Bonhams book and even Richard Coles book. Watch Moby Dick again, the part wher he's using the jackhammer. Then look at pics of Old Hyde in the two books. The window frames are a dead giveaway. Throw away your ridiculous 'notes' and smack the person who supplied you with them, for they are incorrect sir.

  3.

Jack Bonham (John & Mick's father) owned a construction business. It is my understanding Mick was employed for some time by his father. Mick also opened a Dolly Disc franchise circa 1975, around the time he married. Within a year they had a small child to raise, and by 1979 they had two children to raise. If I had Mick's book at arm's reach I could probably find some relevant quotes to post.

As a by the way, I believe the freehold country house building site John is briefly seen breaking up bricks at in The Song Remains the Same was one of his father's business projects at the time.

That 'freehold country house' is Old Hyde Farm, is it not?

  4. Okay, okay! I have the boots! I'm not a big fan of '77 either!

I don't think there are any GREAT shows, from start to finish, from '77 - '80. Good shows, yes, great moments, DEFO!! but no GREAT shows...

I think we all know Zep weren't the band they used to be after Earls Court 1975, and even that was patchy!

  5. People have been telling me for weeks how much I should love this band, but, so-far, they haven't lit my fire. I'd like to see them live though.

Could have got you "in" on the guest list, Kneb! B)

They are fantastic guys, just wrapping up their first bunch of UK dates. Back in November, hopefully.

They don't sound that "Zeppy" to me.....sure, they've nicked a couple of riffs, but........ didn't Zep??

Drummer Miley is extremely versatile. Man, what a week I've had. I'm a total groupie.

  6. This band is amazing! Check out other Youtube clips and try and catch them live if you can.

I saw them last Tuesday and am going to see them again tomorrow supporting Judas Priest and Queensryche.

  7. Seeking any information on this photograph. Perhaps it was snapped at home in West Hagley whilst they were preparing to move to the Old Hyde Farm, or at the Old Hyde Farm as they were moving in?

  8. Do you know what colour underpants John Bonham was wearing in Santa Pod, 1973?

    Ahem...

Here's a serious question for the oracle that is Mr Steve A Jones (not the Sex Pistol).

Japan - 29.09.71. Legendary show. What is the true source of the the famous "soundboard tape" ?

    Monitor mix, from the desk?

Or indeed recorded from the stage? With two "on stage" mics? (Why would the band do this?)

There's a discussion going on elsewhere on the www. It's the kind of site that deals with music, rather than underpants...

Over to you, Mr Steve A Jones!!
