Not much to add beyond when I first heard the "parking the car," comment, I just thought it was fucking funny. So friends can joke around and tweak each other (Alex Lifeson story I'm too lazy to spell out).

Anyone who has listened to enough boots knows how funny Robert is between songs, so nuff said...

Robert's funny, do the others get the joke? Try taking the piss out of Planty he's

    not so easy going then.

Parties at your house must be a riot.

Is that your best shot at an answer ? I was trying to put forward a point of view

i thought you might construct a reposte. Evidently not . Parties at yours, must turn into a riot?

  3. A world where people respect fellow workers abilities

and what they bring to the table and where "piss taking"

isn't used as "only having a laugh mate " an excuse to be rude by the back door.

Plant has over the last 30 years become steadily more sniffy about Zeppelin

and his two former bandmates .He hides behind these tongue in cheek remarks

but what grates is he never talks of them or the band that made him in complimentary terms

The parking the car comment which started this thread is one of many small disrespects

that don't forget, led to JPJ commenting publicly about "my friends finally remembered my phone number"

So he clearly did take it to heart.  Sorry to be so po faced .You see humour i see bad manners

Too much of it in the world  these days .

  4. the assumption being that Plant is funny, which i say he isn't.

the discussion is, why always the knocking of former bandmates

by Plant in nearly every interview, which he attempts to pass off as

humour. Seems as valid as anything else discussed about a band that's been defunct

    for over 30 years?

  5. Plant has always considered himself to be the great wit

and feels he can say anything about anyone without causing offence

on the basis he is the "great" Robert Plant . Unfortunately others don't always get the joke

Post Zep he developed a very lopsided view of the band dynamics . It became" me and good old Bonzo

versus the other two pompous muso's". Strange man. seems straightforward but always playing games.

  6. Flares, I like your points. For years, we Bob Dylan fans collected crappy sounding bootlegs. And then Dylan and Columbia started "The Bootleg Series", with just some incredible stuff, lots of it better than stuff he released! Would have been awesome if Page did this, but I think the problem here is Dylan recorded enormous quantities of songs, sometimes 30 or 40 for an album that would turn out to have only 10 songs. The others went into the vaults where they eventually leaked out to bootleggers. Zep didn't do this, in fact, I seem to remember JP or someone saying Physical Graffiti had all the outtakes at that point in time.

Totally agree with tmtomh, if they had released four CDs of the really good stuff as one package, everyone would have been raving about it!

As i see it Zeppelin had awesome quality control that lead to a pretty much perfect run of lp's

You have so much left over material from other bands because of certain factors

1 Other bands spent lots of time noodling about and discarding things which leads to leftovers

2 Zeppelin had a clear idea of what they were going to achieve before they entered the studio

and got in and out as quickly as possible.

3 Everything was used up by presence

4 Most bands have a creative span of 5-6 years

Taking this into account Page wanted to refresh the catalogue wanted to add value

felt this portal idea was the way to go and didn't realise the hardcore fans wouldn't see it his way.

Personally, while expensive i think the superdeluxe boxes are beautifully realised works of art

the extra content is just that, extra, take it or leave it!

  7. One of the most underrated British bands of all time.

The songwriting partnership of Lea and Holder should be up there with

Lennon and McCartney. They were never cool glam like Bolan or Bowie

Their story is overdue a documentary hope it happens

  8. But aren't we all to blame?I questioned a guy who had a local record store

that was closing down ,he told me was sick of people coming in looking at product

then leaving shop and buying on Amazon. The ones that really pissed him off were the ones

that had the nerve to ask him why he was more expensive than Amazon. Doh!! to quote Homer J.

If we all wanted local services we would pay local (higher prices) for the service they provide.

We don't because its all about price and convenience.

  9. You are correct about the digging down chillumpuffer, someone calculated there are between 400 and 1000

abandoned mini JCB excavators left under houses in the more expensive environs of inner London.

Once the gyms and swimming pools are constructed they are simply abandoned! First world problems indeed.

Hope JP succeeds the barbarians are not only at the gate, they have the keys!

  10. Fantastic! it's a real grower. They updated zeppelin for the new millenium.

The problem was Plants insistence on using Albini, more for the cred of it than

any quality it might bring. Also an indication of where the balance of power now lay

in the P&P partnership.I doubt Page would have allowed such poor production

out the door in their heyday.
