  1. I'm gonna stuff the ballot with extra votes for the version from 1970/09/19 (evening). Re-listening now, I forgot just how great the jams and interaction with the audience was.

Hurray! :bravo::friends::goodpost: Seriously, incredible renditions of Lawdy Miss Clawdy, Some Other Guy, Train Kept-A-Rollin', etc.

CHOO CHOO, All aboard the 1970-09-19 train!

  2. June 19, 1972 Seattle is pretty great too, was probably close to a half hour in length (27 minutes with a sizeable cut on the recording we have now). Like the rest of the show, if you can stomach the mediocre/poor recording it's well worth it.

I need a soundboard for that show, that show is so freaking epic, 3 hours with cuts in it and in 1972!

  3. Very difficult to name a single performance as the very best as I believe there's probably a couple dozen shows that can stake this claim. However, if I was forced to choose one as the best or at least my favorite it would be

9.19.1970 evening show in New York.

This show, particularly the last hour or so is beyond description.

A few other of my faves that don't seem to get as much hype as some shows are

    01.10.69 Fillmore west

    04.26.69 winterland

    06.15.72 Long Island

    07.13.73 Detroit

    02.14.75 New York

    03.12.75 long beach

    05.30.77 landover

    Nice choice, I agree.

I agree with both of you, that show in unbelievable, I mean they do a KILLER WLL medley and then another kill HMMT medley as an encore, you get exhausted and pumped at the same time listening to that show, it's awesome

.... Damnit now I have to listen to it again

  4. So I've been going back listening to a lot of later Zep shows and with that of course comes the VERY good set lists of 77-80 and I was wondering what live rendition of ALS y'all prefer! Been watching a lot of 1979/08/04 lately and I quite like that, 1977/06/21 comes to mind as well, what do you guys think?

  5. The switch between the necks is pretty damn perfect on TSRTS, especially when you watch it too, it's so damn good, I really like that performance of it overall even though I love the start/stop thing he does in the solo in the later years

  6. Oh no not at all, the balance is great, you really hear everything very well, the balance is up there with the Millard tapes, just not as clear otherwise, I don't know if any amount of remastering could fix that which is a shame, such a good show deserves the best audio quality possible

And I have Berkeley already and it's a GREAT show like most 1970 shows, the thing I love about 1970/09/19 is that it's so looong, goes on forever and every second is amazing

  7. The best version of 1970/09/19 is 'One More For the Road 2005 Edition'. It's the lowest generation/best transfer around, better than anything bootleg label has released.

I got that the other day but I also got "Funeral for a friend" and I think that sounds better than the other ones, pretty good on the bass and stuff, a soundboard would be so amazing!

  8. Same here...first time I listened to the show, the stretch from the WLL medley to the encores with the Out on the Tiles/Communication Breakdown and The Girl Can't Help It/Twenty Flight Rock combos made my hair stand on end. Simply sizzling!

It should be noted for accuracy, in case any newcomers are reading this, that it is the Evening show of September 19, 1970 that we are referring to, not the early afternoon concert. The band played two concerts at MSG on 9.19.70. Both shows were taped and the afternoon show is good but the evening one is killer. A MUST-HAVE for any Zeppelin collection.

One more thing on that, I have the Born to Please release from years ago, is the newer ones any better?

  9. It gets mentioned here, but depending on the context, it might get overlooked sometimes because of the sound quality.

It is definitely in my top 10 or 12 Zeppelin shows that I like to listen to, and I rank it above Blueberry Hill and Montreux '70 in performance. But some people won't accept anything less than soundboard or Mike Millard tape quality and when they ask for bootleg references with great sound, it means shows like 9.19.70 often don't make the cut to some people's ears.

Ah that makes sense, the recording is pretty meh but it's not bad! Pretty well balanced for an audience recording and I can't get over the incredible setlist
