  1. CJW, I don't think it's 'odd' that you feel that way. People's personalities are different: some would have no problem with speaking in front of lots of people and are generally outgoing, others struggle with day-to-day stuff like that (me, too, by the way).

  2. Get out in the real world and meet people and be a friend, join a good church and give of yourself and you might see how that helps your depression, you mention faith and Christ but still wonder about life after the grave and whether there's life on other planets, stop reading philosophy self help books and cry out to your maker, stop beating yourself up about world peace, it's not for you to solve, wanting it is noble and you can have an impact in your community by spreading goodwill to even those who might not deserve it, don't wanna upset ya bro but get real!

    Love in Christ!

I've gone to church and also to Religious Studies tutors when things have got really bad for me and, to be honest, it wasn't much help. In fact, the lack of empathy they showed was quite surprising. It made me realise people don't really want to ''reach out to the community'' and help those in need, or at least not in my community. Never mind, I suppose I could always carry on seeing my psychologist for 100 quid/session a week...

As someone who is looking for the ''answers'' to life, death and all the rest, these experiences left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

  3. This thread has turned a bit on the depressing side. Life is not that bad. Chin up and focus on today, and after focus on tomorrow, and things will move in the right direction. There is work out there folks, sometimes you have to be willing to move to a new community or country, acquire new skill sets, and work your way to the top!

Sorry, that's probably my fault. You're right, try and look for the positive in everything.

  4. there only politicians in the United Kingdom or United States Of America, you only see them or hear from them whenever they need your VOTE!. as for the Police there just a bunch of BRAIN DIE PUPPETS, as one morning coming home from work(nightshift) I was pulled over as they said I was not constituent and drifting, they said was I under the influence of drugs/ alcohol, are

well once they found nothing wrong I was sent on my way. no they didn't say sorry or anything. police state. . . yeah debts, housing , fat /thin , the way you dress too, just because you wish to be yourself, I`ve even be question about my musical listing choices , your old why do you listen to this and that. those people are the bigots whom don't feel that good about being a Human Being. that's why this Hippie is keeping his values, peace, love, understanding and fist in the air. maybe one day some politician may LISTEN... but I will not hold my breath... thank God for my faith and rock and roll till an answer will be found.

Ha other way around for me, ''you're young, why do you listen to...?'' (Zep, Floyd, etc.).

I'm treated like I'm ill sometimes, as if liking ''old music'' is something to pity.

  5. Nice article :goodpost: . Just like we all figured, hes an ambulance chaser.

One thing that bugs me about this whole thing is the way its characterized by the media. Even in this article there's a head line saying read bout Led Zeppelin accused of stealing famous Stairway To Heaven track. When regular folks read stuff like that they get the impression that Zeppelin "stole" the whole song lock, stock and barrel and renamed it Stairway in some attempt to fool people into thinking it was their own.

Well I'm here to tell ya! it Is!!!.

You're right here. I've had people show me that, or headlines like that, asking me how they got away with stealing someone else's song for so long. I don't think this is damaging Zepp's reputation per se, but I do wish papers would be more careful about how they word things. They didn't steal the song at all, they should make that clearer.

If this gets to court and Malofiy wind, I'd be very surprised. I don't think we need to worry too much.

  6. As things are at the moment, life is pretty crap for everyone, including young people. Nothing to look forward to, not knowing whether you'll get into uni ( and if you do, will you get a job after, will you be able to pay off your debts?). Knowing you probably won't be able to afford your own place until you're well into your thirties, and even then you'll be lucky to find somewhere you feel safe walking alone after dark (which, in the UK, is mid-afternoon in the winter). You feel ugly if you're this or that, too thin, too fat. And aren't people happy to put you down by telling you?

    It's all quite depressing.

lipslikecherries, I don't know how it is in the US so I can't tell you whether it's ''better'' or ''worse'', but it is true there are a lot of families/people really struggling to make ends meet week upon week. Not that anyone in Westminster seems to give a damn, they're okay as long as they get their money (and a lot of it) each month.

  7. ^^^ I'll be honest, I'm not usually a big fan of covers, especially when you have a band trying to cover something that was so great in the first place. Mostly because I prefer people try to be creative themselves, rather than just copying someone else's work. I'll be looking more into this band, though. They've got my interest.

  8. I heard it was more than the guitar and jamming together, it could have the fact Paul sued the Beatles in `70`s...

Yeah, for some reason they were somewhat bitter about that. Still, Paul was miffed they didn't trust him re Allen Klein. The feeling was pretty much mutual.

These are some of my favorite Beatles songs that no one mentioned:

    Oh darling

    Girl

    Don't let me down

    Glass onion

    I'm so tired

    Sexy Sadie

Some of my favourites, too. ''I'm so tired'' was one of the first Beatles songs I ever heard, and I still love it. A highlight of the White Album.

  9. ^^ Thanks for posting :)

What I find funny is that I have relatives the same age as Jimmy, and yet none of them look half as good as he does. And they've had a much ''straighter'' life than he has.

    This man amazes me.

  10. Yeah, maybe Paul and John could have worked together again on something. Kinda like what Page and Plant did. I do know that Paul has said his personal relationship with Lennon was getting better during the late 70's/80. But thats how it always seemed to be with them post-Beatles. They would become friends again for a while, "something would happen" (who knows what), then they wouldnt speak to each other (sometimes for years). Their friendship really seemed up and down during that decade.

I dont know much about what sort of interaction Paul had with George during this period, but I get the impression it wasnt very much. But that might be wrong, dunno. I assume it was okay with Ringo though.

About what you mentioned with Harrison doing the Anthology for financial reasons, thats not the first time I've heard that. I dont know if its true or not but I would think he would have been doing fine money wise.

You're right that John and Paul's relationship was up and down, but in the last few years of the 70s I think they were getting on much better. I don't know if it would've stayed ''up'' for long enough for them to get together and make music again, though.

No, George tried to distance himself as much as possible from anything to do with the Beatles, and there was still quite a bit of resentment towards Paul left over from the 'Let it Be' period. I don't think they were in close contact.

He wasn't on the brink of starvation, I mean he still lived in his big mansion in the country, but I believe he'd not long lent a lot of money to the Monty Python team to make 'Life of Brian'. I honestly don't think he would've done it if it weren't for this matter. I don't know if you've watched 'Anthology', but he doesn't even seem that interested in it. I don't know, that could just be me though.

Something similar to what, like you say, P&P did would've been nice.

  11. I think something could've happened in the early 80s, bearing in mind John and Paul were starting to get on again like they used to. It's hard to say though, the way J changed his mind so much, one day wanting to play again, the next not... Plus George H was always quite against the idea after breaking up, I think, so it couldn't have been a complete Beatles reunion. The only reason he did the Anthology project in the 90s was because he needed the money.

Something I wonder is, had they got back together and done something, what would they have done? In what direction would they have gone, musically?

    We'll never know...

(dunno if this has been asked 'cause I'm new, but there's my thoughts anyway).
