  1. No need to apologize as we all have a wide variety of tastes. I don't hate America but for the most part I was never really into that whole soft rock thing in the 70s, though I do have a certain amount of tolerance for some of it. The "country rock" (for lack of a better term) type bands of that period were much more to my liking such as Pure Prairie League, Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, Poco, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Flying Burrito Brothers, etc.

On the America tip, they were joined by Ryan Adams, Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, also known for composing the music for the movie That Thing You Do!), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and others for their latest album which was released sometime last year. Unfortunately, most of what I heard from it simply didn't do much for me.

If you're so inclined, here's a clip of them (along with Ryan and Ben Kweller) from the Late Show with David Letterman that aired in January of '07:

    Not Bad

  2. Vintage Chicago I can deal with but current Chicago? I'd sooner be taken out back and shot in the head ninety fuckin' times than have to endure that shit. Glad to hear you enjoyed it though...

Hey Nintey times My God thats a lot.I knew you would say something like that and I hear you but it was really good .I went because I had nothing to do and I really enjoyed it.Just for your info I listened to a song by the drive by Truckers and I actually liked it.It was called My Sweet Annette

Originally scheduled for the Boat House in Norfolk the Ticket sales demanded a bigger venue so the show was moved to Hampton Coliseum Cinderella (The Long Cold Winter Tour) Winger,The Bullet Boys

Winger was pretty good really like Reb Beach the Bullet Boys suck their singer so badly wants to be David Lee Roth and He not even that good sorry Charlie only the best well you know.

Cinderella was spectacular awesome well worth the price of the ticket.Great show.

  5. Speaking of the Feat, they have a new album coming out soon called Join the Band that features a vast array of special guest stars including Jimmy Buffett, slydeco guitar whiz Sonny Landreth, Chris Robinson and many others. You can read more about it at their site here.

I will definetly buy the album but it looks like if I want to see them again I will have to travel .

  6. I like some post Lowell Little Feat but a lot of is closer to Michael McDonald era Doobie Brothers than it is the Little Feat I know and love.

Melissa Etheridge (with Del Amtri) is one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Melissa was on tour for her second album at the time, Brave and Crazy.

Cool to see the Robbin Thompson Band mentioned here. Back when radio actually played local and regional artists they used to get a lot of airplay on WQDR and WRDU out of Raleigh.

I agree on all three accounts .I have wanted to see Her again but have not made it.She said at the show the last time She was in Norfolk She had played a really small venue and now She was moving up to the bigger arenas and She was going to releace Her new lp in a few weeks. At the time She only had the one cd on the streets but She played a few songs from the second lp.Robin Thompson was pretty good.Little Feat did put on a good show and did a lot of extended jamming like they always do .

  7. steppenwolf90.jpg

John Kay and Steppenwolf and Afterclass at the Boathouse Norfolk VA 90 the Outlaws were suposed to open but cancelled due to illness big bummer for Me but John Kay and his band were still good.He was the only original member left .I believe he fired them many years ago. saw Him in 76 at Jungleland with Streetnoise and a few other La Cal based bands.

  8. Hey Al,

Where you stationed in NYC when tickets for these shows went on sale? I attended the first night on Friday. My friend went to the Garden and bought 4 tickets. Tickets must have sold out in minutes.

How on earth did you attend so many out of state shows?

    Thanks,

    JT
