  1. I'd love to hear those Russian cds. I remember when they were on eBay, but I didn't buy them as they were pretty expensive.

I have to correct something I said. The only music on the anthologies that was remastered was what had already been released, like the Tony Sheridan songs. My Bonnie, Ain't She Sweet etc. The other music was "mastered" with the best equipment at the time of release. The music hadn't been legitimately released previously to have ever had the need for 'remastering". The anthologies were the first legit processing for release. Sorry about my screwup.

Stuff like the isolated string parts for Eleanor Rigby were mixed and "mastered" for the anthologies. They sound "remastered" but in fact were just treated to mid 90s remixing then mastering (definately superior to mid 80s).

It seems confusing but if music had never been prepared for public consumption and release, there's no "remastering" to be done, only an first-time "mastering". :D

  2. How's it going "Jahfin?" I thought that both THE BEATLES "THE CAPITOL ALBUMS" VOLUMES 1 & 2 were Digitally Remastered but they are not. They were only remastered from the original master tapes. The collection that is going to be released in September will be the first. I hope that sounds right. ROCK ON!

I'm not understanding your post. The tapes for the Capitol boxsets WERE remastered from the "Capitol tape mix". The September release will be the first time the ENTIRE catalog is to be remastered.

In 1987 a few of the original cd's were released as remastered versions. Help (ADD), Rubber Soul(ADD), Magical Mystery Tour, Abbey Road were among those remastered (Check your cd booklets and see there). The others were "just" mastered for cd.

Then "1", "Love", Let it Be "Naked" and the redone "Yellow Submarine" featured remastered product. Plus all the music on the Anthologies (outtakes, partial takes and finished takes) were remastered too.

I'll still get the boxsets of the newest remasters though, knowing they'll be superior to anything before it too.

And as far as my "fifth" time getting their catalog, I'm talking original albums, singles, imports, reissues, cd's etc. I hadn't gotten EVERYTHING 5 times, but much of it, YES !

  3. Yes. I've got the DVD at home. It's been a while since I've seen it. Let me watch it again tonight and I can give you a better response. ok? I focused on Jamie Foxx the time I saw it that it wasn't until afterwards that I really didn't think about Ahmet being portrayed in the film.

    R B)

The acting is this movie was so convincing. I think you'll find focusing on Ahmet's part this way. :)

"You think pennies, you'll get pennies; You think dollars, you'll get dollars!"

  4. I don't know anything about how much actual footage there is of Ahmet available, but in the movie "Ray" (Ray Charles), Ahmet is depicted prominently by a great actor and I'd assume he fairly accurately depicts him. Jamie Fox did so well as Ray, and Charles was "overseeing" the production so I'm sure Ahmet's part was equally acted competently.

I recommend checking out this movie for a bit of Ahmet's early business techniques. He was generous, humorous and so music savvy. He was at ground zero in the development of Rock and Roll and Ray Charles was one of the pioneers as well, often overlooked in this regard.

  5. Because a minority of us are not as astute on the computer as you,Round Robin.I apologize to you for my lack of skill. I envy your ability. Please accept my apology.

I meant no insult, I just didn't know why you'd do that. I was thinking you'd post your remark after that, if not edit your original quoting. I'm not that savvy either jabe, please accept my apology for seemingly downgrading your abilities.

  6. If anything, I'm guessing he'll make a new album soon, especially with Tal on the bass. I'd like to hear her do some wicked chops on an album.

Is that who played with him at last year's Crossroads Festival?

She was excellent. And cute too. ;)
