  1. Foo Fighters at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario

    March 20th

    WAS FUCKING INSANE

Halfway through the show the had a platform lowered down in the middle of the arena and they walked out and played an acoustic set. There was lots of jamming, and a couple pretty cool drum solos and some cool "zeppelin-esque" guitar solos. They also had a brief triangle solo, which was hilarious. Speaking of which, Dave Grohl is a bloody hilarious guy.

Oh, and they played for over 2 hours.

  2. If you want to read Orwell's best non-fiction book, go for The Road To Wigan Pier, that book *really* taught me a lot about Socialism, and the great thing is that it's very easy to read, but nonetheless still a really complex book.

I love this cd...but can't stand the first song...The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song.

About the only cd I have that I start on track 2 everytime. I even tried to listen to it tonight...still can't stand it....

If you got the 5.1 version it comes with a DVD, there's a great toned down version of The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song with just the piano and no falsetto singing, though I agree it's not the greatest song ever.

    Listening to....

  4. I enjoy Tool's cover of No Quarter, I'm also quite partial to APC's cover of Imagine.

    Some other good ones:

Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix

Johnny Cash's covers of Rusty Cage by Soundgarden and Hurt by NIN

Rage Against The Machine's cover of Maggie's Farm by Bob Dylan

Pearl Jam's cover of Rockin' In The Free World by Neil Young

Nightwish's cover of Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth

  5. Usually the gripe is the other way around, that Clapton has spent a large part of his later career leaning towards pop. I think it's fair to say EC has been not only more active but more varied in his later career, JB and JP have by and large been musically inactive compared to EC. If JB and JP have moved beyond their roots it's been toward semi-retirement while EC has stayed active.

Bullshit, Jeff Beck has released plenty of recent albums, better than the crap Clapton is putting out, and better than the vast nothingness that Jimmy Page is putting out.

    From wikipedia:

"Much of his output has been instrumental, and his releases have spanned genres, ranging from blues-rock, heavy metal, jazz fusion and (currently) a blend of guitar-rock and electronica. This versatility has made it difficult for Beck to establish and maintain a broad following."

Also, these look like pretty recent albums to me

You Had It Coming – 2001 #110 US
