  1. How's it going "Swede" my buddy? Long time no hear. How's it going in Sweden? I figured that I would hear from you on this one. I realize that the both of us are really into the Blues and into the Peter Green era. And because of this, I really felt that I owed something to the RUMOURS album and the new 1970's FLEETWOOD MAC line-up consisting of Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. I was kind of disappointed when I heard the RUMOURS album for the first time and heard no Blues. But in their own way, the new line-up had to establish their own identity and record their own sound that was separate from the original Blues Rock sound formula. With the 1977 RUMOURS album, the NEW FLEETWOOD MAC did just that and would leave their mark in Rock history because of it. This move would result in recording one of Rock's Top 100 ALL-TIME GREATEST ALBUMS EVER! This move would also produce one of Rock's reigning Queen's of Rock n' Roll, Stevie Nicks. For myself, personally, it took me into the 1980's to really appreciate the new line-up of FLEETWOOD MAC. Then again, I met all of them through my late great friend, BEACH BOYS Drummer Dennis Wilson in 1981 and because of him, I really fell in love with the new FLEETWOOD MAC line-up and their music. My friendship has lasted with some of them up to this very day. ROCK ON!

Thanks, everything's fine over here, though I am in Glasgow for the moment! :D Hope you're doin' just fine too!

I suppose I should give them a chance by listen to them a bit more. I do like Bare Trees for example, which really differs from the Green era of Fleetwood Mac. Also, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie is one of my all time favourite rhythm sections. Few can create the groove those guys did together! It's cool that you got the chance to meet them!

    Cheers mate!

  2. ^^ Nice story there.

When I was in my early teens I was heavy into blues and hard rock. I was crazy about Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac which I had just discovered among my dad's records. I went to a flea market and found Rumours. WOW, a Fleetwood Mac album, this must be great I thought. When I got home and put it on the turntable, MAN WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT!! This is no blues, where the hell is Peter Green?!?! I never played that record again. :D

I'm sure I would appreciate Rumours in other ways today then I did back then. Though I still think the later incarnations of Fleetwood Mac is a bit too slick and poppy for my taste.

  3. Just picked up the current issue of Mojo magazine with the Townshend cover (Daltrey has a seperate cover too).

Great article on "The Who Sellout" time period & a review of the newest reissue of that album. A must have issue for serious Who fans who love that period of the band (my personal favorite).

Yeah, I got that issue too. Sure a great read (and a great album :D ).

  4. Hiya beatbo, thanks, I always enjoy reading your posts! I have never seen Peter live and I got really excited hearing he was out playing again. I really hope he will do a couple of gigs in Sweden or UK in a near future. I will go without hesitation.

  5. Otis Rush and Freddie King is both excellent. Love that old Freddie clip Levee posted!

Speaking of Otis and his voice. Some other blues artists that I love not only because of their playing but for their remarkable voices too, is Buddy Guy and Elmore James. Those guys got very soulful voices!

Here's a great live performance by Buddy in 1960's:

    Let Me Love You Baby

  6. Since you mention "one man bands" here's one (and only I guess) from my country who is actually my avatar at the moment.

Legendary Tiger Man (he's real name is Paulo Furtado)

It's basically a combination of blues and 50's rock n' roll. Hope you like it. B)

Cool stuff, got a little of that Cramps-vibe. :D I like it.

  7. Hehe, yeah really. There's a bunch of old blues stuff with kazoo on it, those guys played kazoo like it was a horn. However the kazoo's they used and the toys we've become accustomed to were different things. There are some pretty serious kazoo's out there.

LOL, I've never seen a kazoo like that!

  8. You guys were talking about kazoos and stuff, got me thinking of Jesse Fuller who also use to play one. :D Duster was a friend of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac. Some of them plays on his record but mainly it's only Duster. It's produced by Mike Vernon (who produced almost EVERY british blues band). Fleetwood Mac made a cover of Duster's song, Jumping At Shadows, great tune.

Jumping at shadows - Duster Bennett

    Both versions are great!

BTW, here's the type of kazoo that Jesse used:

  9. I'd go but it's a wee bit far to get to, much as I'm wanting to go there :D

LOL, I'm sure there is a bunch of 'em around where you are as well.

Nice find dude! I love Blue Cheer.

Thanks, me too! Dickie Peterson has one of the coolest rock voices of all time. He sounds arrogant and angry, just the way it's supposed to do in rock'n'roll. Fits perfect to their raw sound! :D
