  1. I have purchased a couple of rare 7" singles:

    60's garage rock

The Myddle Class - Don't let me sleep too long / I happen to love you

The Uncalled For - Do like me / Get out of the way

Hard Times - I can't wait 'til friday comes / (Old wine) new bottle

    60's soul:

Jo Jo Murray & the Top Flight Band - I'm in Love / Your Love (Liftin' Me Higher)

Maxine Brown - My Biggest Mistake / Sugar Cane County

The Kingpins (King Curtis) - In the Pocket / Ode to Billie Joe

Floyd Smith - Soul Strut / Getting Nowhere Fast

    60's rock/pop

The Zombies - How we were before / Indication

  2. Today I purchased one vinyl LP and a vinyl 7" single:

Magic Sam's Blues Band - West Side Soul (1967)

(of course, it's the Magic Sam on this board who made me aware him)

One of Swedens most competent blues pianists plays on this album, Stockholm Slim aka Per "Slim" Notini.

The Music Mashine - Talk Talk / Come On In (1966)

Garage rock classic that you can find on the Nuggets Box Set.

  3. I only have his other records to relate to, since I still haven't seen him live (or heard any live recordings). Maybe that is in favor for the album, I don't know..

Another thing that I liked with Easy Tiger is that his vocals are really good. I wouldn't say it's his greatest album, but I do think it's one of his top five albums.

It seem to me that the hardcore fans are a bit harsh on him. Don't know how to express myself, but I think he has a "high bottom level", or, he's never really bad but people have high expectations on him. If you know what I mean..

  4. Two vinyl LP's:

Merle Haggard - Someday We'll Look Back

    P8090014.JPG

Beatles - Rubber Soul (If there's a 60's band that's really missing in my vinyl collection, I gotta say it's The Beatles. Never been the biggest fan, but there sure is a couple of albums I still have to get).

  5. Tell me what you think of this when you can.

I really like it so far. I have only listened to it twice. I really like his backing band, The Cardinals. Great songs, the melodies are ace so is the performances which is kinda stripped down. Not one bad song, high quality straight through the album.

  6. I think Stonedhenge is really good, sure has it's fine moments, and it's quite different to the other albums. One of my favorite songs are on it, No Title, and let's not forget Hear Me Calling. Both songs are deadly. Check 'em out, I'm sure you'd like 'em.

How about the debut, titled Ten Years After? It has many great song too.

  7. Sssh is a great record, probably my favorite. Bad Scene and Stoned Woman are fucking cool, love the fuzz on the first one.

I have to recomend another record signed Alvin Lee, which he made with Mylon LeFevre in 1973. The title track, On The Road To Freedom, makes it worth the purchase alone.

The british rock'n'roll elite from the era is guesting too, among ohters George Harrison, Mick Fleetwood, Jim Capaldi, Mike Patto, Ron Wood and Stevie Winwood.

I've got the vinyl, which is quite rare, but I believe it's released on CD as well.

Be sure to check it out!

  8. Yeah, I like it so far. Haven't finished it yet, but the first half seems pretty good.

Thanks for the recommendations. I got this album because I figured I needed to get some actually good hip-hop into my collection.

Yeah, I'm not the greatest hip-hop fan myself, but there sure are a couple of albums that's worth checking out.

  9. Some albums were configured like this for playing on turntables with a stackable changer so you could listen to them in the proper sequence, then flip them over to play the other sides in the correct order.

I had no idea there ever was a turntable like this.. I know my copies of One More From The Road (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Basement Tapes (Dylan & The Band) is configured like that.

There are some turntables that can play both sides without needing to switch the record round.. don't ask me how THAT works. :D

  10. No Yes fan..

I'm not a fan of progressive rock for some reason, though I like some of the really early stuff in that genre.

BUT, I'm a big fan of Howe. After all, he was involved making one of the best British psych records in the late 60's together with Twink among others.

    Tomorrow - Tomorrow

  11. Bought another four vinyls this weekend.

Little Feat - Waiting For Columbus

Unfortunatly this classic live album has been missed in my Little Feat collection far too long.

    c5245552yl0.jpg

Uriah Heep - Very 'Eavy Very 'Umble

    Their debut, a classic!

    f08012pvten.jpg

    Earnie K-Doe - Earnie K-Doe

This is an old compilation released in the late 60's/early 70's in the US. It contains songs like Mother In-Law, Tain't It The Truth and There's A Will There's A Way.

    (no cover avalible)

    Carlene Carter - Carlene Carter

Her debut. I have no idea why I bought it.. maybe because it was cheap. The cover looks like an ad for shampoo or something and the music sounds like a blend of british pub rock and country. I don't know yet what to think of this record, have to listen to it again.. :D

  12. Ebay and Amazon are very, very last resorts for me. I don't like internet shopping... the wait, the shipping costs, annoying sellers who don't ship for a week or more. I want those albums but haven't wanted them enough so far to go online. I'll keep hunting in the local stores.

I can relate to that.. I haven't used Ebay myself, yet.. So far I have only purchased records on a Swedish auction site. I do think it's a great way to find records that are difficult to find in local stores, but sometimes people seem to pay insanely high prices to get a record, that's annoying.

There's a certain charm hunting records in local stores, that are lost with the internet too.

It shouldn't be a problem to find Lloyd's and Verlaine's records in local stores though. You'll find them eventually.

  13. I've never found these... now I want 'em even more!

I don't know if you've tried eBay. I purchase a lot of vinyls on auction sites, though I prefer looking for records in actual shops. Luckily there are many good second hand record shops here in Stockholm, which is quita a big city (capital of Sweden).

From all the vinyl I've seen you've purchased, I'm pretty damn jealous.

I would start a vinyl collection of my own, seeing as they're just flat-out cooler than CD's, but I don't own a player and the only convenient form for me is through CD. :(

I may start getting vinyl of some of my favorite albums though, even if I already have them on CD. :)

I believe you can purchase a new turntable pretty cheap, or even find one at a flea market or a Second Hand Record shop. The biggest problem is that vinyl take a lot of space, lucky for me I have an understanding girlfriend. :D

  14. Great finds there. The Long Ryders are far too often overlooked even though they're pioneers of the alt.country movement (even though they were called "cowpunk" back then) and as a huge David Lindley enthusiast I've been meaning to get my hands on some Kaleidoscope records for quite some time now.

They had a couple of more Long Ryders LP's there, but I had to hold my horses a little, can't buy everything I see. :D These one's sounds great though, I like their blend of folk/country/rock.

You should absolutely get Side Trips and A Beacon From Mars by Kaleidoscope. I have not heard their third album, Incredible!, which is supposed to be just as good as the former albums, but I will try to find that album too.
