Who's Number One?

17th September 2009

A campaign is underway to give The Who their first ever number 1 in the UK singles charts.

Despite a five decade career that’s produced some of the most iconic albums and music of all time, The Who have never reached the top spot in the UK singles charts.

But that may be about to change (if you have something to do with it).

A campaign has started to get The Who’s 1971 classic ‘Baba O’Riley’ to the top of the UK singles charts and it needs your help to do it.

In the week commencing MONDAY 16 NOVEMBER you need to go and purchase the TRACK from a reputable download company (Amazon, 7Digital, iTunes, HMV, Napster etc). If you want to take part you need to make sure that you purchase just the individual track, ‘Baba O’Riley’ and that you do it during the week commencing 16 November (any earlier and the sale won’t register for the correct week’s charts).

Judging by recent singles sales, roughly 60,000 people will need to download the song during the week (Jay-Z’s recent number 1 single ‘Run This Town’ sold approximately 62,000 to get to number 1) to give it any chance of hitting the top spot, so you may need get some of your friends involved in this one.
