kenog
http://www.abctrust.org.uk/news05.html event: Bebel Gilberto private concert On 9th August, ABC Trust had the honour of hosting a secret concert with one of Brazil’s foremost musicians and daughter of the creator of Bossa Nova, Bebel Gilberto. As one of our dedicated patrons, Bebel kindly agreed to do a private performance for 200 guests at London’s Embassy club during her very short trip to the UK this summer. Bebel filled the club with her beautifully crafted music which infuses bossa nova, samba, and Brazilian jazz with a very 21st century style. Joined only by her guitarist on stage, Bebel’s songs, together with the delicious caiprinhas being served, took us straight to the streets of Rio. Grammy-Award nominated singer, Bebel, strongly supports the ABC Trust and recognises the great need for the work that our social projects do in Brazil to provide thousands of vulnerable young people with the opportunity to transform their own lives. In between her two performance sets, Bebel took a few minutes to speak with ABC founder Jimena Page about the importance of the work the ABC Trust does and her personal dedication to the cause. Throughout the evening, ABC ran a silent auction with some very exclusive lots to raise vital funds for our work. One successful bidder walked away with a framed Chelsea football shirt signed by the whole team and another lucky person won the chance to choose a dress from Brazilian designer ISSA’s Autumn-Winter collection. This event was a fantastic chance for ABC to catch up with one of its patrons and to thank some of the people who have been actively involved in supporting our work over the last year or so. Thank you to all who attended, to the Embassy club for their generosity and cooperation and to Bebel for putting on such a wonderful show. Bebel takes a moment to speak to ABC founder Jimena Page. Bebel was joined by her guitarrist on stage. After her performance Bebel met with Jimena again and with ABC's Lydia Stevens and Maira Inae.
