45 years ago on this very night...September 4, 1970. A day that will always live on in legend. Not only for Led Zeppelin's gig at the Fabulous Forum, which was surreptitiously recorded by some intrepid fans and immortalized as the "Blueberry Hill" or "Live at the Forum 9-4-70" bootlegs, which happens to be one of the three most important and historic bootlegs ever. But this date is also legendary for Fairport Convention were in the midst of their week-long residency at the Troubadour Club in West Hollywood, which they were recording for a live album. After Zeppelin's Forum concert was over, the band limo'd up to the Troubadour and joined Fairport Convention at the end of their set. All reports say that the tape recorders were still rolling during the Fairport Zeppelin jam but no tapes have surfaced to this day. Fairport Convention did release a live album from the Troubadour run, called "House Full".
So this night 45 years ago in L.A. gave birth to two great live albums...one official, one a legendary bootleg.
That's _ amazing.

^^Nice:-)
Looks like Jimmy went to see U2 at MSG 7/23/15. At 2:10 into the video Bono says Jimmy Page right in front of you and they add in the days of my youth ....and a few more:-)
Tonight's show has a definite South American feel to it, thanks to the two fans that Bono brings on stage. First is Marcela from Colombia, who's on stage during "Mysterious Ways" and does the Meerkat video segment. She's carrying a Colombian flag that says "We are waiting for U2 in Colombia." Bono reads the flag and tells her that U2 has never played Colombia, but perhaps someday that will change. Shortly after that, Paolo from Brazil comes on stage to play guitar during "All I Want Is You." He does such a good job that Bono let's him keep the acoustic guitar when the song is over.
There's also a bit of a Led Zeppelin vibe, thanks to Jimmy Page being in the audience. Fans spot him getting a tour of Edge's stage setup before the show begins. Bono sings a couple Led Zeppelin snippets during the show, and during "Beautiful Day" he changes the lyric to "Jimmy Page right in front of you!"
Mike Peters of The Alarm is also at the show, prompting the "Blaze Of Glory" snippet during "Sunday Bloody Sunday."
One other note: Tonight's intermission is the Johnny Cash/"Wanderer" video, not "The Fly" as has been used in recent shows.
Edit to add photos:
Wow, and Putin there as well! (had to be said)

Again, I keep coming back to this power house. It may have a bit of the old Page "polish" clean up, but for me, THIS. This is Zeppelin...

I voted IMTOD, but The Rover and Custard Pie - also cracking good rolling jam endings. Achilles Last Stand also comes to mind, great tone.

Pop/country artist Jessie James at a radio station hits a homerun.
What a lovely tribute. Good on you two.

I have really wanted to see the intense lead in to Since I've Been Loving You more clear, without the camera effect applied. I am really hoping this is available. That is after all, the most intense angst filled thrashing of emotion dropping into that ballad you could ever hope for. It perfectly illustrates Jimmy's uncanny ability to communicate such a clear, and intense feeling. Almost like a language I did not know I could speak.
Here's hoping.
What show or live song are you listening to now?
in Led Zeppelin Live
