Don't know what version the YouTube ones are, but IMHO the best-sounding version of the 7/24 Copenhagen show is a fan remaster done in 2016 or 2017. If it's circulating, it likely will be called the Pseudonym remaster. This remaster is not extreme, but rather tastefully done and remedies (or at least improves) all the original sources' shortcomings remarkably well. It brings a little more presence to counter the super-echoey hall ambience (apparently the 24th was taped from the balcony while the 23rd was taped closer, from the floor). It provides a bit more low-end oomph and overall frequency balance. And it somewhat tames the clackety-clack of Jones' alembic bass. Highly recommended.

    +1 Sue's remaster is tops.

  2. Presence is certainly a favouite of mine. Achilles is my all time favourite Zep track. First time I heard it I was astounded and I have been ever since.

I also really like For Your Life too and Candy Store Rock is definetly a guilty pleasure.

Yea For One is like a forgotten masterpiece IMO. Yeah I know it strays too close to SIBLY for some but I love it still. It perfectly demonstrates the agony of Plant and co at the time into a song.

This is pure fucking genius right here. For anyone who hasn't heard this before or not heard it in a long time please give it a full listen:

I listened to the whole show just this week and yes this NQ smokes. Jimmy is on for most of the night tbh and his soloing in NQ is as good as ever here.

Me neither, I love Led Zeppelin but the idea of spending hours & hours listening to audience recordings of them sounds pretty grim to me. I think I bought about two bootlegs at record fares before I gave up & I stick with the official stuff & the odd soundboard these days.

I absolutely love HTWWW & have done since the day it came out.

I was once the same tbh. When I first started downloading boots, I only touched soundboard and wouldn't go anywhere near AUD recordings as I just assumed they were all terrible. I think eventually I grabbed the Eddie boot and from then on I opened my mind and ears to more and more recordings.

I'm glad I did now as there are some truly fantastic AUD tapes that rival a SBD tape. Stuff like Montreux, Berkley, Japan, any of Millards tapes and more are certainly more than with the effort.

But yea, I do love HTWWW. :D

  5. I think the Coda Companion discs are great. BIOH, Levee, Wanton, Sugar Mama, St.Tristian are all gems to listen to IMHO. Wish they could have got the FM broadcast version of Wanton pn there and cleaned it up too. Same with Fire.

So it's not perfect but i'd say it's a welcome pleasure.

The go-to example for most people is Achilles Last Stand at Tempe. Not only does the recording suck (it's distant and muffled, and you can even hear "All Right Now" bleed through the tape towards the end), but the performance is horrendous. The intro is actually pretty cool and unique, but then a flashpot blew up in Jimmy's face, and he spends the rest of the song struggling (and failing) to catch up with the others. Plant's voice is shot and he seems confused about whether to follow Jimmy or Jones and Bonham, creating a cacophony of noise. This, imo, is the single worst performance of any song they ever did:

As for The Rain Song, I don't think they ever played it horribly, but there are some versions out there where Robert's voice was pretty rough, or the mellotron got out of tune. Check out Sheffield 73 or Greensboro 75 for examples of Robert's voice at its weakest.

Other than that, quite a few version of Rock and Roll were rather lackluster, due again to Robert's weak voice. There's also Kashmir from Zurich 1980. What a trainwreck. Check out 2:25 for when it really goes awry:

Just a couple of examples. I'm sure others will provide plenty more, mostly from 77 onwards! :D

It's funny, two of their best shows; Zurich and Badgeholders are both plagued by Kashmir botches. Although I don't mind the LA one too much tbh.

I seem to recall reading that the tape ran out on Heartbreaker and no tape exists for TY and SIBLY. Anyone confirm this?? Regardless, this should be an official release. However, it's great having what's available and I fear an official release would get chopped up , altered, etc.

Yea I know about Heartbreaker but thought Page might have the full Thank You and SIBLY in his possession. Or I'm still hoping he has.

I'm more than happy with having the footage we have though and I'm just glad we have what we have tbh. Plus we can rip the audio from the DVD to make our own CD from what we do have in official quality. Or the boots :D

  8. If they can add Thank You and SIBLY (It was ayes right), they should release this whole concert on CD IMO. I wouldn't mind or classic it as any sort of 'cash grab' either. It'll be a completely worthwhile and fantastic release. Plus the two bonus tracks would surely justify it.

That's interesting. I like it too - sounds very "rude," as Page has been known to say. And it's a nice variation from how his tone sounds on most other live Zep tapes.

For some reason, though, a lot of the hardcore fans online say they hate his tone on this show - I guess they think it's too messy and fuzzy. I like it though.

Yea, I've read a few Zep aficionados are not too keen on it, but I've always like that particular tone foe a guitar tbh. Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with whatever tone Page uses, I just particularly like this one esp.

On another note; Has anyone who was there that night ever confirmed that SIBLY was actually performed?
