  1. I like the stuff with Ronnie James Dio, not really a fan of Ozzy...

dio was the real deal !

ozzy didnt even write most of the lyrics he sung in black sabbath!

geezer wrote the lyrics for ozzy while in sabbath for the most part!

that should be COMMON KNOWLEDGE to real sabbath fans but suprizingly its NEW NEWS to many !

still i love ozzys fist 2 solo albums AGAIN come to find out it was a cover up , ozzy didnt come up with much himself

BUT omg ! great albums ! so i guess i cant help but like him to some extent !

  2. Thanks, Super Dave. Too late to edit my post but I'll correct my database. I do have an article on file to compliment what you said.

New York Post (May 19, 1988) (New York, NY)

    19880519NewYorkPost.jpg

Scan courtesy Steve A. Jones Archive

i enjoyed this article ,im glad you posted it, i loved when this Plant era FINALLY happend !

my friends & I didnt see this comming, "Tall cool one" had us light headed!

  3. There was a backstage photo from this gig (I think) printed in KERRANG!, featuring Jimmy, Mick Jones and maybe Lou Gramm. The caption was something crass along the lines of "If you added up all the money these guys had made from album sales you'd be green with envy." I may have the photo somewhere; will try and scan it if I come across it.

    Cheers,

    Indi

Indi, shure would be great to see that picture, please try!

  4. i found it just moments ago !

STEVE A JONES thankyou for everything i actually have a little tear in my eye! it was the moment in pictures i longed for for sevsral years!

i hope this post fills some blanks for others also !

    &

    hey EVERYONE ! =

if anyone needs help finding Zep info get ahold of me & ill give you STEVES home # , (call him collect ANYTIME ! )

  5. I was at a Madison Square Garden Robert Plant show, I believe it was the Now and Zen tour, but I could be wrong. Scott Muni, a famous DJ for WNEW FM, introduced Plant to the stage. During the intro Muni said something like, "There is a Zeppelin flying above outside." The show went on, and I think Plant did play some Led Zeppelin songs.

Jimmy Page did eventually came onstage for a few encores and received a thunderous applause. They played some blues standards, unfortunately, no Zeppelin songs were played by the duo.

    WOW! what year was THIS?

  6. Post-Led Zeppelin onstage jams (jams only...does not include performances as Page/Plant nor the various Led Zeppelin reunions):

May 12, 1982 at the Sports Arena in Munich...Page & Plant join Foreigner during encore on 'Lucille'

Dec 4, 1983 at Colston Hall in Bristol...Jones (on bass) joined Plant during the encore on 'Little Sister'

Dec 13, 1983 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London...Page joins Plant during the encore on 'Treat Her Right'

Aug 1984 in Ibiza...Page & Plant join Phil May and various members of The Pretty Things for one set

Apr 17, 1988 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London...Page joins Plant during the encore on 'Trampled Underfoot', 'Gambler's Blues', 'Since I've Been Loving You' and 'Rock And Roll'

Nov 21, 1989 at Hen and Chickens in Oldbury...Page, Plant, Jones perform with Chris Blackwell and Phil Johnstone during Carmen Plant's 21st birthday party

Apr 28, 1990 at Heath Hotel in Bewdley...Page, Plant, Jones & Jason Bonham perform five songs during Jason's wedding reception

Jun 30, 1990 at Knebworth Park...Page joins Plant during the encore on 'Wearing And Tearing', 'Misty Mountain Hop', and 'Rock And Roll'

OMG ! ive got ALOT of exciting things to look forward to !

    my head is spinning!

ill try slowly search these out & try not to bother you too much Steve! & the rest of you guys !

most of THIS IS CRAZY NEW NEWS to me ! i wont sleep tonite !

sooner or later I WILL HAVE TO KNOW the biggest question EVER ! :

"are their any perhaps " family pictures " of the THREE of them at carmens birthday?

  7. I did mention this performance in post #1937 of the Zeppelin Mysteries thread (January 3, 2009). This jam isn't well known because so far as I know there aren't any recordings from it in circulation, virtually no press or media coverage occurred at the time and we have just the one photo.

If I can remember to do so I will attempt to contact Mick Jones this week to inquire if he has any recollections from the night, and to confirm or deny it was recorded. I suspect Dortmund was recorded for a German telecast as opposed to the band documenting each night of their tour.

WHAT? YOU KNOW MICK ? holy cow ! i miss lou! ,im a big fan !

  8. Dave Lewis's book, Led Zeppelin The Concert File, has the only image I have ever seen from this performance, on page 333. The book is small in size, which makes the picture even smaller, and tough to scan. A verbal description: Jimmy on the left, his hair flying towards Robert, great shot of Jimmy in action playing his guitar (can't tell if it is his Les Paul, but definitely not the black beauty). Robert rather still in photo, his new shorter hair style, left hand on mike, covering his mouth. His right hand below by his waist holding mike cord and a cigarette. The contrast between Jimmy's long hair and Robert's new shorter hair is quite striking. Great picture!

NOW THATS how a true fan gives a brother fan a "true visual" THANKS!

its pretty rare ,im sure everyone would love to see it if u can post it,

  9. I don't think there are any recordings in circulation from the night Page & Plant joined Foreigner in Munich, but here's a clip from Dortmund on the same tour...somewhat Zeppelin-esque to me:

    thankyou SO MUCH!

i guess im extra thirsty now:

to see ANY pictures of this moment in time, you still mite be the onlyone who has something !

I Cant believe iim the 1st to enquire about something sO big that happend ! but i cant seem to find ANYthing in our forums so far . im sure theirs a Foreigner fan who was smart enuf to take a picture!

where else do you suggest i look?

  10. near hammersmith apollo, they have the 4 symbols on the floor engraved there... i was quite shocked that they we're there..but also that people could walk over them!! madness lol

    but i love them!!

HEY ! tell me something ,

AND DONT LAUGH (too hard) at my question,

you mentioned "Hammersmith" and it rung a bell for me to ask you please=

ive lived in cincinnati USA since i was 2 yrs old , pops told me i was born in

"Hammersmith sheperdbush" in october of 1967 .

could you tell me anything as if i was "near" Zep possibly at the rite time as a baby

    ?

i mean could i have been next to where they played ? or even better could i have been strolled in my stroller (lol) past the building at that magical moment they first played ?

HEY SOUNDS FUNNY ASKING such silly things BUT my parents dont have a clue of Zep info!

i always wonderd things like :

could i have been near pageys "boathouse" while robert & jimmy were getting to know each other lol,

or was i born on the otherside of ENGLAND? where they never played?

who else would i ask but a fellow Zep fan in England!

YOUR MY "ONLY HOPE O.B.WAN !"

  11. THE NATURAL BRIDGE ! somewhere in kentucky.....20yrs ago i had seen at the top while your crossing theirs TONS of graffiti , saying :

    so & so WAS HERE!

    & he loves she (puke!)lol

& someone probably in the 70's chizzled into the stone

    theirs a HUUUUGE= LED ZEPPELIN!

i took a picture but who knows when it will turn up! ! it had to take forever to do this!

(it had to be early in the yrs of graffiti because their wouldmt have been enuf space for it yo be sO BIG!)

hikers go get us a picture ! please!

  12. ANYONE got any info of this "FIRST EVER" POST ZEP live getogether? info ! pictures ! ANYTHING!

i had heard of this moment in time while in highschool , but it seems to have fallen through the cracks of time! you never even hear of it even happening!

just trying to put the event in the timeline in my head!

hard to do without a picture of them sO early in the 80s on stage together !

  13. NO no , He fit the Morrison quote in ON PURPOSE & no disrespect to you BUT I AM SURE!

in several interviews & in many many concerts ,over the years ,HE QUOTES JIM MORRISON !

he does this ALL the time!

RP's quote at the O2 was just an instinctive ad lib. He started to say, "out here..." as in "out here in the crowd..." and that obviously triggered the Jim Morrison quote in his head so he went with it. Probably had a few people scratching their heads, but I guess most of the old timers in the crowd would have got it. I thought it was great, as were most of his Plantations that evening. I do think he was cut off from saying something else at the beginning of Rock And Roll. You sort of hear him start a word and then the drums kick off. Now we'll never know. :-(

  14. YES ! theres a connection between KASHMIR & Jim Morrison !

Plant RESPECTS Jim Morrison as if they were BOTH :

TRAVLERS OF TIME & SPACE" !

    I KNOW for a FACT :

-Plant quotes Jim Morrison ALL THE TIME !

-Plant even wears the SAME NECLACE

in a ZEP CONCERT MOVIE (tsrs) that Morrison wears in his " most famose photo pose " !

So right before Kashmir, actually just before he mentioned the thing about the 50 countries being represented here, and this is the 51st, and right before he said there was a guy w/ a Hammer of the Gods shirt, he said

"Out here, out here in the perimeter there are no stars"

So I recognize this from a Jim Morrison poem, which was then put to music on An American Prayer by the Doors.

"Out here in the perimeter, there are no stars. Out here, we is stoned....immaculate."

Question is...does he make references to his (former) colleagues work like this often? Is there some specific relationship to Morrison or this particular work that makes this understandable?

  15. NO WAY ! can you give us a few examples of Plant putting Morrison down ?

i really dont believe this, & WHAT book is this?

    I KNOW for a FACT :

-Plant quotes Jim Morrison ALL THE TIME !

-Plant even wears the SAME NECLACE

in a ZEP CONCERT MOVIE (tsrs) that Morrison wears in his " most famose photo pose " !

im a huge Plant FAN & Plant RESPECTS Jim Morrison as if they were BOTH :

TRAVLERS OF TIME & SPACE" !

looking forward to your reply !

That's interesting because in the book I am reading now with quotes from Robert, Robert really puts down Jim Morrison.

  16. How's it going "lzzoso?" I hope all is well with you. I love all of ROBERT PLANT'S solo albums but I like his earlier stuff such as:

(1.) Sea Of Love - The Honeydrippers

(2.) Burning Down One Side - Pictures At Eleven

(3.) Moonlight In Samosa - Pictures At Eleven

(4.) Like I've Never Been Gone - Pictures At Eleven

(5.) Worse Than Detroit - Pictures At Eleven

To be truthful with you, my favorite ROBERT PLANT album is the PICTURES AT ELEVEN album from 1982. I love all of the songs on that album. ROCK ON my friend!

    1) SLOW DANCER

    2) slow dancer

    3) Pictures at eleven album ,dont forget "mystery title"

    4) manic nirvana (song)

    5) big LOVE (not LOG)

    6) 29 palms

    7) Ship of fools

( thats the shortest i could keep it)

  17. I AGREE KASHMIR,has not been topped all these years,AMAZING

    like:

    in the evening

    imigrant song

    stairway

    in the light

    no quarter

    u know what i mean

SOME OTHER BANDS have wrote their version of this superior type of song

that do stand the test of time kinda got that "RAW MUSICAL FORCES" goin on arguably of course

    randomly:

    Heaven n Hell/b sabbath

    Perfect Strangers/d purple

    Last Chance/shooting star

    Dream on/aerosmith

    The Price/t sister

    Bad co/b company

    dust in the wind/kansas

    baba o riley/the who

    Hells bells/ac dc

    i love it loud/kiss

i know som others but drawin a blank/

BUT STILL THEIR NOT KASHMIR!!! its amazing ,just amazing all these songs ,1 from each band BUT ,Zeps got 6 of their own to 1 each from other bands.

I KNOW IM OFF ON A TANGENT HERE anyway

its just wild how superior zep truly is than any other band in history.

OUR BOYS ARE JUST MILES AHEAD OF ANYONE so so dam impressive

thanks for leting me express my opinion, COMMENTS WELCOME

--This should probably be pinned so no more "best setlist" or "ideal setlist" posts crop up--

Just list what you think is their best setlist and follow it up what with what you think an ideal setlist wouldve been. Mine:

Knebworth (4th) is their best setlist IMO. For newbies, that consisted of:

    1. The Song Remains the Same

    2. Celebration Day

    3. Black Dog

    4. Nobody's Fault but Mine

    5. Over the Hills and Far Away

    6. Misty Mountain Hop

    7. Since I've Been Loving You

    8. No Quarter

    9. Ten Years Gone (BEST VERSION KNOWN TO MAN IMHO)

    10. Hot Dog

    11. The Rain Song

    12. White Summer / Black Mountain Side

    13. Kashmir

    14 Trampled Under Foot

    15. Sick Again

    16. Achilles Last Stand

    17. Guitar Solo / Noise Solo / In the Evening

    18. Stairway to Heaven

19 Rock and Roll (1st Encore)

    20. Whole Lotta Love (2nd Encore)

    21. Heartbreaker (3rd Encore)

No Dazed, CB, or Moby sadly but its still the best running order in all of Zep... (although CB was done the second week anyway)

    My IDEAL ZeppList:

    1. Immigrant Song

    2. Celebration Day

    3. Black Dog (w/ "Out on the Tiles" intro, BIOH sucked as an intro riff for this)

    4. Over the Hills and Far Away

    5. When the Levee Breaks (Note: I'm playing fast-and-loose with what they can actually do live)

    6. The Rover (FULL-LENGTH)

    7. Sick Again

    8. Since I've Been Loving You

    9. No Quarter

    10. Dancing Days

    11. What is and What Should Never Be

    12. The Song Remains the Same

    13. The Rain Song

    14. White Summer / Black Mountain Side

    15. Going to California

    16. That's the Way

    17. Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp

    18. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You

    19. Trampled Under Foot

    20. Hot Dog

    21. All My Love

    22. In the Evening

    23. Nobody's Fault But Mine

    24. Ten Years Gone

    25. Kashmir

    26. Achilles Last Stand

    27. Dazed and Confused

    28. Stairway to Heaven

    ENCORES:

    Rock and Roll

    Heartbreaker

    Night Flight

    The Ocean

    Whole Lotta Love

    Communication Breakdown

    Bring it on Home

(and when the crowd STILL wants more and is screaming "MORE ZEPP, MORE ZEPP!!!!"):

    We're Gonna Groove / I Can't Quit You Baby

(and after Robert says "Goodnight, (whatever city)!" and the crowd riots):

ROBERT: "Thank you very very much, yes thank you...Alright well, unfortunately we've gotta leave you, but we'll play one more...I don't think we've done this in about, eh, (*lets say this is 75*) five years I think..."

Jimmy tunes up and then they play:

    Somethin' Else

----AND THEN THE CROWD FINALLY LETS THEM LEAVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALL FAINTED DUE TO THE RAW MUSICAL FORCES AT WORK----

I think I had WAAAAY too much fun writing that second half (my "ideal" setlist pushes five hours *without* banter from Robert...)

But let's see if anyone can come up with a better setlist (preferably a more realistic one) B)

Edited to say please forgive my ridiculousness writing those last two encores, (especially that "RAW MUSICAL FORCES" bit, it's 12:23 and I cant think straight, sorry.
