  1. He's given up alcohol too, hasn't he? Good on ya, Lord Page. The only (publicly known!) vice left for him is smoking.

P.S. Sorry, I must disagree about Grohl's alleged resemblance to Jimmy - no way! Not even on his best day, with a team of stylists and a paper sack to put over his head. :)

  2. Thank you, Strider! What the hell happened with Djokovic though - he wasn't himself at all. I think he must have been ill, perhaps from the intense heat and humidity.

  3. That is Holly Williams ! Talented in her own right. She is the grand daughter of country great Hank Williams Sr ( I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry )

Thank you - I'm a big Hank fan.

  4. Roger beat Tommy Robredo in straight sets - HA! And Nadal is out - woo-hoo! [i don't hate Spaniards, I just want Federer to sail through]

  5. He's so beautiful he can get away with wearing aggressively ugly/nerdy clothes :)

In the telescope photo - I think that's in the boathouse at Pangbourne? - that looks like an Asian tree root sculpture.

  6. I was actually being quite serious. As someone has said it is a history programme being screened by the BBC in which a couple of historians re-create the living conditions of living on a Tudor era farm..I don't know wither to be offended by your comment or not.

I meant no offense. The programme sounds interesting; I hope it makes its way stateside someday.

    P.S. Thank you, Strider: you're a gentleman and a scholar :)

  7. I'm just watching Tudor Monastery Farm, very interesting. Did you know that during the summer solstice during those times, if they had a feast with pork and ale to celebrate, they would later throw the bones onto a fire near midnight...hence the name Bonfire. Bon from the word bone.

I can't tell if you're being droll or sincere. Or sincerely droll. How did they celebrate the winter solstice, since it's almost upon us? Wait: these are monks, feasting on pork 'n ale? I thought they were to live quiet, scholarly lives and abstain from all bodily pleasures.

  8. I'm sure it's unintentional, but his right hand is making the benediction gesture that a priest makes during the final blessing of the mass.

He's looking very well, very healthy - God bless 'im. I hope he's inherited his mum's longevity genes.
