Bloody hell. That was officially, fucking awesome. Thank you, 2bit! I seen the light! That part where Jeff solos, then Ronnie, then KEEF - phwoah.
P.S. There was a Jimmy Page sighting at the Rolling Stones gig. He came out of the main entrance area with another bloke, so say reports on a Stones fan site.

I love this one with the little cig hanging out of his mouth. Classic- don't ever sell it!!
It's awesome but they don't ever get his face quite right, do they? Here he looks like Ritchie Blackmore; in the other statues he looks like Joe Perry.

That Gargantua movie was very surreal. It's weird how much I remembered from seeing it once when I was 5 or 6 years old, on tv. I kind of enjoyed Russ Tamblyn's laconic "I coudn't give a toss" acting style.
-
Mick Taylor! Bloody hell, that would be amazing.
There are also rumors about, don't know how credible, that Jeff Beck may make an appearance.
-
One of my personal favourites was "War of the Gargantuas"... a real heartbreaker; I never missed a broadcast if I could help it.
OMG, I have that DVD at home now - just rented it from Netflix. I want to find out if it's what I remember from early childhood.

Thank you, David.

Thank you, kind people! I see Mr. Dunn has a book and a web site. Must investigate.
Update: judging from the index & photo gallery, it doesn't seem that the 1972 photo of JP is included in Carl Dunn's "This Is Rock 'n Roll" book.
Perchance, is anyone here familiar with the 1995 Ross Halfin book "The Photographer's Led Zeppelin"? There are Carl Dunn photos in that.
Sorry, I'm a bit obsessive. I'll take my meds now

Judging by his shirt (which I believe may be a pink crushed velvet number), I'm going to hazard a guess of 1969? It's been a while since I watched the "How the West Was Won" DVD, but I think this may be a still from one of the 1969 performances on there - you know where they're on a Danish television show or something. Sorry to be so vague.

What a fantastic article - thanks! So rich in detail.
Does anyone have a better version of this photo? It's one of my faves of his lordship:

Reykjavik-Rotterdam (2008)
Directed by Òscar Jònasson.
This Icelandic movie is about Chistopher, an ex-convict who’s hired by his close friend and associate, Steingrimur, to do a last smuggling operation between Holland and Iceland.
Hopefully, it will be available in the U.S. - a few Icelandic films have made it over, but not many. Most seem to star a handsome actor named Hilmir Snaer Gudnason. More Hilmir films please!!

Finally, a reason to go on living: a new Rolling Stones song (and it's GOOD) as well as rumors of a tour or at least a few shows [wipes a tear]
Keith is really ripping it up on this one, babies:

Damned if I can find in anywhere but a song sang by a choir called Brochan Lom, a celtic song I believe
There are several versions on the YouTube:
I can't make out a feckin' word

"I Won't Last a Day Without You" by The Carpenters

Jack White's new (to me) solo album, which came out over five months ago. I really need to get out from under my rock more often.

58 hours! Cripes, that's a lot of commitment. 2+ days of your life. I hope the book is better than the musical

The U.K. fans/music cognoscenti never really "got" The Doors, I don't know why. Theories, anyone?
Jim Morrison himself talked about this in an interview with a British journalist around the time of The Doors' Isle of Wight performance in 1970.
Maybe it's just one of those instances (i.e. Cliff Richard) where the two cultures will have to agree to disagree.

Sorry about the hugeness of that pic. This web site used to automatically size down photos, but I guess they don't no mo'.
Strider, you won't like the birthday cake-flavored Oreos either then - it's to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary. I'm told by a vegan friend that they are both delicious and "safe" (no animal products).

Just released:

Aerosmith's first album. I've been listening to the audio version of Steven Tyler's autobiography and it got me curious about their early stuff. Lots of Jimmy/Zep/Yardbirds content in said book; Steven's mad love for the Yardies in particular is sweet.

"Yes and Philosophy: the Spiritual and Philosophical Dimension of Yes Music" and I am not making this up, it's a real book.

I thought the same thing. He's always seemed quite shy about his voice. While it might not be anything to write home about, his vocal contributions have always been cherished by me. (I particularly enjoy hearing him during "Thank You," and the live "Tangerine" from the Forum 72 show.)
Me three - I love Jimmy's voice. When he said he was "hopeless" as a singer in IMGL, I was like nooooo.
-
Oy, the poor guy - his arms were so thin they looked as if they could snap. Thank God he's alive and healthy and, of course, hot!
Can't find the pic of young Jimmy in a striped bathing suit, but I found this:

Positively monsoon-like. But let us rejoice anyway: it's the first day of summer as well as the 70th birthday of one Brian Douglas Wilson, Beach Boys mastermind and survivor of a lot of heavy stuff.

A man it really is going to be impossible to forget.
Did you do this collage yourself? Nice 'un. Except for the photo on the upper-left corner - that's not Pagey.

Clapton? I am hoping that's just a rumor. Jimmy has more history/connection with the Stones, plus he is friends w/ Keith and Ronnie - and Beck, of course, who is much admired by Mr. Jagger -- see it all comes together so nicely.
Please, let it be Jimmy!
