  1. I am absolutely devastated right now. I am crying. I can't breathe. I am just so heartbroken. I cannot even speak right now. I am hurting so much inside. Neil Peart is like a God to me. A poet. His lyrics spoke to me like no other musician. While other bands spoke about girls, getting laid, getting high, etc., Neil's lyrics were about philosophy, literature, the human race, etc. That man turned me to the works of Ayn Rand for fucks sake.

Rush means the world to me. They were my escape from a fucked up world.

FUCK YOU, GRIM REAPER! FUCK YOU, CANCER! FUCK BOTH OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need time to get over this. His death has hit me much harder than expected...

  2. Nothing really. Just more family drama, with more lecturing, passive aggression and yelling thrown in my direction regarding how immature and irresponsible I am and how amazing "other kids" are. Honestly, this has been one of the worst Christmas Eves ever. I guess Saint Nicholas wished to put coal in my stockings this year.

Hoping to get some quiet time to myself this evening where I wouldn't have to speak to any family member. Would be the best Christmas present ever. I will be perfectly happy just sitting in my room and reading a book. That way, I will stay out of trouble. There were definitely some fragile egos in my household today.

I apologize for dampening the Christmas spirit, but I cannot possibly hide my feelings. Needed to vent somewhere or else I will burst like a pressure cooker. Suppressing one's feelings is certainly not a healthy way to live. Also, I have learnt that the minute the shouting or aggression starts, just walk away from the person concerned or just stay silent. That way, the perpetrator will look like a prized idiot.

Edited to add: If there was one thing that Christmas 2019 has taught me is to identify my trigger points while interacting with family members. When I feel that someone is trying to bait me (on the pretext of being "concerned" about my welfare, blah blah blah), that's my queue to just sit there, smile, nod along, not say a word and pretty much "switch off" and be aloof and oblivious to the conversation. If all these strategies make me out to be a "complex person", then so be it. Plus, I have now become quite adept at effectively utilizing phrases such as "I am sorry you feel that way".

  3. Right. Christmas Eve 2019 is here (at least in my neck of the woods). I propose that we put aside all the grim tidings of the past year and indulge at least for two days.

I am reviving this thread, as it is always exciting to see Christmas Food from around the world! :D

Yep! My obsession is the epitome of gluttony! :shifty:

I am beginning the proceedings in the dessert department. There is this lovely cake shop that has been in the city since 2003 and has established outlets in other parts of the city and country. Here is the website: http://www.ammaspastries.in

Visited the place and bought a bunch of cakes to indulge in with the family.

The photo below is a piece of the first type of cake that I bought yesterday from this shop. This creation is called Chocolate Mars. It comprises of two layers of chocolate, 2 layers of caramel, some dark chocolate shavings on top and a dash of vanilla icing.

Will be posting more in the coming hours, as the festivities continue :santa:

I for one wont be reading them as I have them on permanent ignore. Remember these people stateside have never left their country let alone know what's going on in the big wide world. I mean some of them don't even possess a passport !! :o

:santa:Hope you get what you wish for P.

A very sensible approach there, D! Yep. I do have the usual suspects on ignore. They can continue to live in their own little bubble and be silly about critical issues like climate change. I don't have the time nor patience for such ignorant individuals.

Anyway, on a more positive and festive note D, wishing you and the Mrs. a very merry Christmas! Do stay warm and safe and I hope you have a lovely Christmas feast! 🎄

Especially when you have buffoons saying things like this............ And don't get me started on that twat Trump. Well said P. Let's hear the right wing idiots to answer you.

Thanks, D! :) I do see a pattern when it comes to Trump and Morrison's ways of thinking, namely their immense love for "beautiful clean coal" 🤢

By mentioning his majesty's name, I guess the so-called insults like "snow flake" and "never Trumper" will be hurled at me in the usual childish and immature way! :hysterical:

  6. *To the moderators: If you feel that I have crossed the line with this post, then please feel free to delete it. Thanks.

The following is my opinion and I think that I have every right to express it as a member of this forum and as a member of the younger generation.

No one can change my mind or convince me otherwise. Argue with me all you like, but my views will not change. Feel free to think that I am brain-washed or whatever. I don't give a fuck anymore. Troll my post all you like. Mock me all you want. I will just put you on ignore.

I will not be silent any longer. This has been on my mind for quite sometime.

I am an admirer of Greta Thunberg. That 16 year old little girl sure has guts. My generation and beyond need someone like her to protect our interests for a change. There. I said it.

Also, I would like to state that:

As long as right wing and power thirsty politicians are in charge, we cannot expect "Climate Change" to be a priority any time soon. Therefore, climate related tragedies will sadly become common place at least for the foreseeable future.

Yes, I know that this is the weather thread. So, therefore, I think that it is appropriate that I air my views on climate change on this thread. Afterall, climate change is a weather-related phenomenon, is it not?! So, I am not off-topic.

Not to worry. I won't speak of this again. I just had to get this off my chest.

In summary, I think climate change is real. Period.

To all the people out there who think that climate change is a hoax, well, you can have your opinions and reasoning, but I respectfully disagree. So, therefore, just like I choose to be respectful of your opinions on the matter, you too can grow up and respect my views on the matter as well.

  7. A nice chocolate eclair, infused with melted dark chocolate, topped with a layer of chocolate sprinkles and a squirt of caramel.

It was good. Not dense, quite fresh and not too sweet. I only wish that it was filled with custard rather than chocolate in the middle.

Thanks for the recommendation, Kiwi. Sounds great. But we don't have Netflix.
I ordered the Monty Python by Monty Python book and I'm looking forward to reading it.

You're very welcome! Always happy to recommend things for a fellow Python fan! :D

Oh and do check your forum PMs whenever you can.

In Bangalore !!! Jesus Kiwi you should live here

I'm afraid so, CP! :freezing: The North-East monsoon has killed the weather here.

If I had heating, it wouldn't be so bad. Back in NZ, temperatures in December went down to -2 °C at night, but things were OK, as there were adequate heating facilities.

Considering to buy myself the Norwegian Blu-Ray DVD set for christmas 🎄

I recently watched a documentary called "Monty Python: Almost the Truth" on Netflix. It is brilliant! I highly recommend it, if you have not seen it yet. :)

  11. Does menopause make women so crabby that their personality changes completely?!

I ask, as I am trying very hard to understand. My mum is pushing 60 and well, at times I feel as if I have to walk on egg shells while interacting with her.

Like the other day, I was just minding my own business and was busy with stuff, when she suddenly asks me if I am about to get my period, as I (according to her) have been acting like a bitch lately. That really hurt and I felt that it was totally out of line and very rude and insulting, but I just kept quiet and said nothing!

I absolutely hate negative thinking and negative feeling, as I myself am recovering from a very serious bout of depression, where a few months ago, to me, life was just a big black hole. But I am finally recovering. But at times, my mum just triggers me with her horrid words!

Also, does old age make men crabby too? I mean I am facing the same situation with my dad.

I have to think twice before I say anything to either of them.

I know that I shouldn't be talking like this, but it is just so depressing encountering things like this. Why does everything have to have a bleak outlook or be a problem?

  12. In answer to the OP's question, I sure hope so! Is it any wonder then that Prince Andrew earned the nickname "Randy Andy"?

Also, since when do grown men (especially old men) have "birthday parties"?!

Arrogant, entitled and a total waste of taxpayer money.

Oh absolutely! What sets the Pythons by the Pythons book apart from the rest, is that we have actual narrations from the Pythons themselves about their early life, Monty Python, Pre-Python shows such as Do Not Adjust Your Set, The Frost Report, At Last the 1948 show, etc., and even extensive narrations as to how they all were coping with Graham's deteriorating health at the time. It is a fantastic read! Plus, there are so many never before seen photos of the Pythons as kids with their families and during the filming of Flying Circus, Life of Brian, etc. I am nearly halfway through. :)
