  1. Regarding the US TV performances,I seem to recall a planned event for 1975 where the band were to perform at a train station in Europe with the intent on broadcasting via satellite back to theaters in the States.

I believe Mr Grant vetoed it based on the limitations of the technology at the time.

Pity they didn't still do the concert though.

It would have been great to have seen Zep on Ed Sullivan or some similar show...even for an acoustic set.

  2. Its sad that all of these buildings are being lost. There must have been thousands of stories containted within each of these structures.Stories of a fan's first exposure to the magic that is Led Zeppelin or whichever band they happened to see.

Those bricks are the temples to store lifelong memories and each loss of a music palace is a small erasure of those memories contained within.

Years ago,in an attempt to capture photos of these Zeppelin venues,an effort was put forth by Bruce Deerhake,Nestor Tytla and myself to build a web site displaying these buildings.

It remains unfinished and in need of quite a few corrections.

It can be found thru Bruce the Buckeye's page as Houses Of The Holy.

Also,I have also thought a coffee table book devoted to the Zeppelin venues

would be a viable and marketable idea that is long overdue. It stands to reason that there would be a demand for a book showcasing the actual buildings where the music was made....not only the concert halls but the recording studios, hotels and places such as Bron-Y-Aur and Headley Grange.

  3. My older brother has Zep II on 8 track in 1975 or so.I listened to it for days.

I then bought PG around 1983 and heard the BBC sessions the same year.In 84,I traders leather jacket for 3 vinyl bootleg albums.

I've been a fan and collector ever since.

The apex of my fandom was being given tickets to the O2 show, rehearsal and after show parties ....thanks to my membership @ FBO.

What an exciting journey its been!!!

  5. It's a fair question Frank. One thought that comes to mind is the BBC's general disregard for documenting and preserving rock music at the time. Think of all those master tapes that were wiped or disposed of. Another thought is who is going to

take the photos? If there wasn't a staff photographer assigned to the session(s) or someone with a camera and enough

    foresight to take pictures...

All I can add is for the April 1, 1971 session there should have been ample opportunity to get photographs. The band held a rehearsal session at 3pm before recording from 9-10:45pm.

Thanks for your reply,Steve. That all follows with the "no camera" policy I had heard of in the past.

However, its frustrating that not one person had the foresight to capture the band pre and post concert at the very least. It just doesn't make any sense.

The master tape wiping is criminal.

And one has to wonder if the band recorded their rehearsal session prior to the show.

    Good info. Thanks again Steve.

  6. Steve/Sam-

    Here's a photo mystery that has haunted me for years;

Why is there only ONE photo of the band from any of the BBC sessions?

Not a single photo from the 71 set..onstage,backstage,offstage etc.

It seems to be a huge enigma in the Zep photo world.

( I understand that the BBC had a "no camera policy" that would have minimzed the chances of an onstage photo).

But there's nothing from before and/or after ANY of these shows?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
